No when you lose by 3 scores at home and aren't' in the game the entire 2nd half and not once cut into the lead the entire 2nd half...it's a blowout.

We can just agree to disagree and move on. We are just going in circles at this point

Dude by your faulty logic out Epic 38-28 win over Michigan in '98 was not a blowout either, when any sane fan knows just how lopsided the game really was. Do us a favor, just keep checking final scores and leave areas of nuance to actual fans who watch the games. You obviously don't mind being lonely as you're the only poster on this board suggesting the game was a blowout.

14 point game is a blowout, ok then. Wait till we play FSU or Clemson then... Wonder what that will be

14 pt games happen when you punt instead of go for it and run the ball down 3 scores instead of pass.
Shafer was playing to lose by 14 and not get blown out. That's what I saw.

It was 31-13 from halftime to garbage time. Lead was never cut into.
I think you need a little time away from the forum. Give it a few days at least before you hit us over the head with this stuff again. We all know the team has issues. Hopefully they will work through it and show some improvement next week.

Just defending an opinion which I am not alone on. That's why we are here to talk football right

You don't get it. Maryland lost the second half. They were horrible on both sides of the ball. We were "in the game" because they were bad and we were capable of moving the ball at will. We just didn't score. And that's on us.

But that's not a blow out. Not even close.

If you are going to use the score of a 60 minute game, all of them should count. Especially when you are using this argument as justification.

Should we remove their scores arbitrarily for whatever reason I can think up? All of theirs count, why not all of ours?

Enough. GT last year was a blowout, we got pounded. Yesterday one team made plays and the other didn't. No one (outside of maybe you) looks at the scroll of scores and sees a 2 TD loss as a blowout.

Again, the dominant SU team won the 2nd half 7-3 with those 7 scored in the final minute. Call it what you want, blame it on whoever/whatever you want. It was not a competitive 2nd half against a peer squad. That is not a good sign as far as the current state of SU football.

We have an OC that now says we are a running team, yet the majority of the passing plays seem to rely on timing and WR's creating space off the snap, which everyone seems to admit SU doesn't currently have. I saw some signs of progress in terms of the quick slants and Gulley running a wheel route, but rolling Hunt out and having him throw on the run doesn't seem to be working. We took one deep shot, which was completed and never went back to it. We didn't play with the accelerated tempo that was promised at the start of the season. SU might have run close to 80 plays but it didn't look as though we caught Maryland in the wrong personnel or made them fatigued.

I'm not burying this season yet, but there are issues which need to be fixed quickly because this next stretch is a gauntlet.

Who gives a rat's ass if this is a "blowout" or not? We lost a game we all thought we were capable of winning.

I think it's safe to say anyone who posts here is frustrated beyond belief by yesterday's game and as a result there is quibbling over a name for the loss

Let's hope the team and staff are more focused on ND otherwise we're gonna have an undisputed blowout on national TV
