Head of NCAA committee on ESPN Radio

We lost five of the last six. Why are we arguing we deserve to be in? Forget about other schools' arguments. We haven't earned it. Getting in would be a gift, not a right.

nobody is arguing we deserve to be in. we are arguing are resume should get us in before someone else

if committee goes by their stated criteria (who knows if they truly do) this isn't supposed to factor in

This. There is such a huge difference in "deserving" to be in and getting in because of our resume. We get it, we lost 5 of 6, that doesn't mean our resume isn't worthy

I don't know what standard people measure to get to "we don't deserve to be in"... The only one that matters will be on selection Sunday. We as fans judge these things pretty harshly. The committee isn't burdened by that.

They look at the entire resume. Whats the difference if a team goes 1-5 to start the year or end the year? Its still 1-5. Losses at the end of the year dont count for more than the beginning. They got rid of "record last 10" as something they looked at cuz its unfair to put more weight on the last 10 games

I know they say that but I don't believe it. The eye test is utilized in late Feb and early March. Nobody is eye testing at Thanksgiving.

Only turkeys get eye tested at Thanksgiving. This team fills that Bill.

So you even expressed doubt yourself.

There IS eye test involved. It's well documented that committee members are sent to watch plenty of teams in person. Personally, it is this I worry about the most if it comes to some sort of tiebreaker in the room vis-a-vis the raw data. That and I can't help but think the playing so poorly down the stretch factors in somewhat even if unfair.

So, if we go by eye test (especially as of late) what sane committee member would vote us in? We make truly abysmal turnovers, we jack threes constantly off one or no passes, we have no depth, and we don't rebound.

My god this is so wrong I can't believe you took the time to type it.
Last time I checked the last 6 games criteria isn't one that matters or else Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech would be locks.

You analyze an entire resume not just a part. When you look at the other bubble teams and you look at Syracuse this isn't a closed shut case. Yeah we haven't earned it okay. I guess only games in February/March matter the games in November/December/January are worthless.

Yeah it would be a gift if the committee looked at our resume as whole and determined it was one of the best 37. Okay. Sure.

What a joke we haven't earned it. Okay the book of Zelda Zonk doesn't want to look at the numbers. It would unworthy of Syracuse to analyzed on its entire merits.

If they use the eye test then Syracuse played UNC/FSU/Pitt to the final minute and lost. All of those games away from the Dome.

Sorry the eye test isn't going to hurt us. We lost games to decent teams at the end of the year. We looked like an NCAA Tournament team.

It has to matter. People are kidding themselves if they think wins in November are as important as wins in Feb and March. If they're the same then why do we get to where a game yesterday or today or tomorrow is called a play-in game?

Exactly. The eye test helps us. Dont forget the miami and virginia games, both winnable games with 5 minutes left.

And yes 1-5 is bad but only 1 of those losses was to a non tourny team, and that was a road game. Of course the reason pitt is a tourny team is the 2 wins against us :(

because Lunardi/espn wanted to promote it as that

The loss to FSU hurts, there is no way around that. Could not have been a good visual. Although we showed some heart coming back against Pitt the overall impression could not have been great. And besides, Pitt was considered a bubble team themselves. The game against UNC was no doubt a positive one but we lost.

But if we beat clemson in january we would have been in with 10 acc wins and 20 overall wins, then yesterday wouldnt have been a play in game.

Not sure there is anything magical about 10 and 20. I seem to recall where that didn't mean very much for us in previous years.
