Not in the rooms. I had friends stay there each of the last two years and they were stuck in the 90’s.There were major renovations done in 18 or 19, they've put a lot of $$ into it.
Rough count theres at least 6 other hotels at worst a 5 minute Uber ride away from the Sheraton. At least 3 of them have more amenities to offer than the Sheraton. There are not a bajillion full service hotels in the market. Until replaced kiss NCAA tourney good bye .
I agree the rooms are great. Not in the rooms. I had friends stay there each of the last two years and they were stuck in the 90’s.
So there are 3 better hotels five minutes from campus. The people the University cares about don't stay at the Collegian.Rough count theres at least 6 other hotels at worst a 5 minute Uber ride away from the Sheraton. At least 3 of them have more amenities to offer than the Sheraton.

I blame Dino
Wish I was stuck in the 90sNot in the rooms. I had friends stay there each of the last two years and they were stuck in the 90’s.
so does our football program! Top 25, bowl games, good ones and winning them, 7 wins was considered only an OK year, 7+ wins was expected and common, as John Saunders once said about our football program during the Grob era, "How the mighty have fallen." I feel we are back to the Grob era. It ends and we start anew beginning November 19, 2023, the day after the GTech loss, #7, and Dino Babers is told, "Your services are no longer required."Wish I was stuck in the 90s
Rumor has it that they were going to knock down the Crowne Plaza. Not sure if thats true. However, according to articles this year they are suppose to knock down the Collegian for a five story college housing building. Those hotels seem busy on game days, but maybe the rest of the time people are staying at Armory Square or Carrier Circle.Last year for Purdue I stayed at the Crowne Plaza. Team stayed there night before the game, and I found it to be a fairly easy walk. We did have a friend who is partially handicapped and doesn't get around the best, he did have to uber back as the uphill was a bit much for him.
The Collegian is not being torn down. That project was scrapped.Rumor has it that they were going to knock down the Crowne Plaza. Not sure if thats true. Good to hear. Thanks. The Collegian is not being torn down. That project was scrapped.
I wonder if it wasn’t connected to this decision? Collegian could eat up a ton of Sheraton traffic if it wasn’t such a dump. Closer than Crowne Plaza. It’s just awful inside and the rooms are tiny. They need a full reno and presumably a new owner. The Collegian is not being torn down. That project was scrapped.
I'm a bit shocked on the uber/lift situation. I never really have had to wait long for an uber in Syracuse or even where I live now in the Burbs(max 10-15 mins).I wonder if it wasn’t connected to this decision? I have a parking pass but I still preferred to leave my car at Sheraton for games and just walk up. Makes it far easier and safer to enjoy the game. Will have to try the Crowne Plaza.
The downtown options are great when I’m OK driving. I’ve found the Uber / Lyft situation to be way too unreliable.

The beauty of our economic system is that if there really is a huge demand for hotel space adjacent to the university, and if that demand will translate into gobs of revenue, then someone will build a hotel to take advantage of said demand and will prosper.
Seems like it’s the exact opposite of short sighted. It’s part of a longer term vision to get more students into on campus housing.
There was never anything special about the Sheraton aside from the location. I stayed there a number of times and it was always a mediocre to crummy experience.
There’s a bajillion hotels within 15 minutes of campus.
Makes sense. My best living situation on the hill was South Campus. Less communal than the dorms but still lots of people around, with Goldstein right there in the middle. Checks all of the (college kid) boxes. Will definitely recommend that to my kids.
I think the Skyler and the Collegian are a 15 minute walk from the Dome and are fairly nice. Never stayed there but friends have, and they didn't complain.Used to go there when the bar was called Regatta. They had pizza and wings with blue cheese. Think pitchers were like $5.
What's the nicest hotel near-ish the school now? I honestly am asking.
