Hodgson to Providence

I was never high on him and didn't have him at the top of my list.

Is PC really a step up from USF? Especially if you intend to be elsewhere in 2-3 years?
Playing against UConn and St. John’s a few times per year brings a lot more eyes to your efforts.

It also brings a lot more Ls. And it is harder to get into the NCAAT IMO from the Big East. A lot of quality coaches there. The AAC is a cake walk.

It will take time to build PC IMO. So if your intent is a 2-3 year stepping stone, wouldn't it be easier to stay at USF when you are already at the top?

I wanted him, but I can tell you the reaction from many of my friends was not good from day 1. They didn't like what he did to Autry's son and when Buffalo came to the dome there was some sort of incident. Many just didn't like him, and I am sure BB heard that also.
I still did not care, and wanted him for his abilities. I'm willing to overlook some things.
Sure, every coach has pros and cons. I was 100% on Hodgson and then I was watching a couple weeks ago and he called a coaches challenge 13 seconds into the game which I believe he lost. That was a bit bizarre, but like you said, I'm willing to overlook some things.

3rd best in the big east gets into the tournament. Not true for the AAC.

Hodgson posted a goodbye on Twitter and the USF fans are defecating on him.

What makes this such a home run? He’s a good coach but idk I just don’t see it. Like our issue with Gerry his resume isn’t the greatest.
His resume isn’t the greatest? He’s been a coach for 3 years and won regular season conference titles 2x, won a conference tournament 1x, and gone to the tournament 1x.

You’re blind with bias.

That’s the part I don’t get. Take SU out of it for a moment…why not see what other jobs might come open over next week?
This is a great point. If UNC fires Davis, and Oats gets that job that’s a nice shortcut for Hodg to get back to the SEC.

There is a lot of interest in basketball at PC and amongst their alumni. As much as it’s anything it is a basketball school. Games are well attended- I’ve been to a lot of Cuse/PC games at the dunk and it was never an orange take over even when PC has a down year.

Fan base expectations are to make the ncca most years even if that’s not the actuality. But there is a lot of history that USF doesn’t have. I think it’s a great hire for PC and a good for NE basketball which tbh isn’t much outside of UConn and St. John’s right now.

Longterm sure. If he plans on being there a decade it is a much better job than USF.

One can make the argument that PC is the 2nd worst job in the Big East. What you said about them can be said about just about every other Big East team.

Also are we ignoring that Cooley left?

So what did he say? I haven’t had any outrage this morning.
During the post game handshake line, Hodgson reportedly told GW player Trey Autry that his father, Syracuse HC Red Autry, wouldn’t be the coach at Cuse next year.

So he is an A+ prognosticator..
