Home and Home Series You Wanna See This Decade

Only in September. I visited my son there for Columbus Day weekend. It was 70 when I arrived and 28 for the game. I had to use my boot to chip a coating of ice off the aluminum bleachers.
Agreed. It's the wind I'd really want to avoid. September would be the safest. It's still a cool place to visit with other cool stuff nearby. I think there are decent places to golf as well. Of course, the fact that it's relatively close for me has no bearing on my suggestion...

It is a very cool place to see a game. As is Navy in Annapolis.

Navy's stadium isn't nearly as scenic as their campus. I say that as someone who lived about 2 blocks from the stadium for 4 years. They put it in a neighborhood.

But the trip is certainly worth it, Annapolis downtown (and Eastport) is well worth your time. Would love if we scheduled them.

Recently moved to South Florida so any of the non-ACC Florida schools. I hate that we play at Miami every 12 years.

Selfishly, I want Oklahoma because I'd love to take my boys to a series with our 2 teams. We'd go to both games in Norman and Cuse.

Agreed. I meant the whole atmosphere and the pomp and circumstance of the platoons (brigades?) marching into the stadium for the game.

Colorado... my number 2 team.

Evening game at CU sitting on the east side of Folsom is one of the best views ever... looking up at the foothills. This picture doesn't begin to do it justice. Boulder is great for nightlife, as is Denver, and plenty of great golf, hiking, mountains, etc. easily in striking distance.

3 of my best friends from growing up went there and I took a few classes there after I graduated from SU.

Agreed. Most scenic venue in college football.

Proximity wise I’d love Stonehill.

Put me down for UCLA. Bucket list is to see a game in the Rose Bowl

It's in the neighborhood. I don't think UMASS fans would be as big of jackasses as UCONN fans, they would probably be grateful for it.
Ummm you would be wrong lol

They were notorious in basketball. If they have any sort of pulse as a team they will come out in full force.

UMASS is ok for easy travel and a chance to see a new venue. I prefer to play a 2 for 1 with them since Quirk Field is small. Not sure I'd want to play them at Foxboro.

Oh CSprings is a great visit. I'd totally love a home and home with them. I really enjoyed the Cog Railroad up Pikes Peak.

I'll go highly personal.

My kid starts at the U of Arizona this Fall. I'd love to see us play a home and away there. It would be a nice pair of games to attend with my son. It's also a Power 5 team that I think we can legitimately compete with (although they have a killer class coming in this fall)

I'd prefer to play Arizona over ASU. Tucson is a great trip in Oct or Nov. Who knows maybe with the Alliance games you're wish will come true.

Another trip worth doing is a home and home with UTEP. The Sun Bowl is a bucket list. Only about 4 hours from Tucson, too. El Paso has some great food and nearby Mesilla, NM is where I would stay.

Funny how people think there are only rednecks in the south, New England has plenty. SU plays at MAC stadiums, I don't see the difference. Also BYU and Army played or will play there and Mizzou has a game there scheduled.

Hope so. And agree re AZ vs ASU...didn't like the vibe at ASU as much. U of A felt like a perfect fit. Felt similar to the feeling I got when I walked on the Cuse campus for the first time. And looks like better tailgating spots at U of A

Next year's Parents Weekend game is hosting Oregon in October, which feels like a blowout on the surface, but AZ has beaten Oregon 2 times in a row at home so...who knows.

A Cali team for you West Coasters.

Vandy and Purdue (check).

And I want a yearly bog down of SUNJ.

Thank you! I’ve been told that a game at West Point is a bucket list must.

As Chip says, a game at West Point is better than one in Annapolis because Navy's stadium is not attached to their campus. Michie Stadium is also more picturesque than Navy-Marine Corps Stadium. Navy marches into the stadium, but the parade at West Point is usually on the Parade Ground and is longer. IIRC, for Homecoming the entire Corps of Cadets marches on the Parade Ground and a fraction (1/2?, 1/4?) marches for the other games.

Places I have already been and would love to see again. LSU, U Washington, the big house again, and I am going but I really really liked the time I had at Purdue will be making that trip again. Played a nice golf course there last time when I have a chance I’ll try and find the name of it.

Places I have not seen a game:
Colorado
Nebraska
Florida have not been to the swamp
Ole miss or miss state
Oregon or Oregon state

We should only travel west of the Mississippi if it is a winnable P5 game. That is it.

G5 I would like to play: Navy, Tulane, Temple, ODU, FAU, FIU, Army, UMass, UConn, Kent State, Miami OH, Ohio, Bowling Green, GA State, GA Southern. They are either easy trips, traditional opponents, or give us a game in a recruiting area.

P5 I would like to play: Ole Miss, Vandy, Colorado, UCLA, ASU, Stanford, Northwestern, Rutgers, MD, PSU, WV.

My mother has fond memories of the Curry Hicks "Rage in the Cage" from her time at UMass. When they had Camby and Derek Kellogg, Coach Cal at the helm. Those guys could HOOP. And it was like the tiniest building ever. It was like if Manley was 1/2 scale. Tiny building = noise. It was a notoriously tough place to play. And the benches would back right up to the student section so close you could touch a player, and lots of opposing players got annoyed getting grabbed and mocked by students in the stands literally right in front of them.

The Cage, kegs on the Hill at Garber Field, elevator surfing. Ah, when UMass was still 'the zoo'. Now it's actually a great school lol

If we get U of A while your son is still there...you will be in First Chair for the tailgate we do.
