I was stationed David-Monthan AFB, aa.k.a. "The Boneyard". Tucson has other things to do around there. Not far from My. lemon or from Tombstone. Very scenic, too.I'd prefer to play Arizona over ASU. Tucson is a great trip in Oct or Nov. Who knows maybe with the Alliance games you're wish will come true.
Another trip worth doing is a home and home with UTEP. The Sun Bowl is a bucket list. Only about 4 hours from Tucson, too. El Paso has some great food and nearby Mesilla, NM is where I would stay.

Looks like 2024 is the only shot unless they move some games aroundIf we get U of A while your son is still there...you will be in First Chair for the tailgate we do.
Colorado... my number 2 team.
Evening game at CU sitting on the east side of Folsom is one of the best views ever... looking up at the foothills. This picture doesn't begin to do it justice. Boulder is great for nightlife, as is Denver, and plenty of great golf, hiking, mountains, etc. easily in striking distance.
3 of my best friends from growing up went there and I took a few classes there after I graduated from SU.

Yes, I was TDY there a few times: delivery of a plane to a boneyard and working with SOF.I was stationed David-Monthan AFB, aa.k.a. "The Boneyard". Tucson has other things to do around there. Not far from My. lemon or from Tombstone. Very scenic, too.
The Cage was great. They played the ragin cajuns last official game. My first time in the Mullins Center I completely threw up on a guy in front of me for the Phish show. That was my worst/best memory of spending a weekend with my buddies at Southwest being as debaucherous as one can be.My mother has fond memories of the Curry Hicks "Rage in the Cage" from her time at UMass. When they had Camby and Derek Kellogg, Coach Cal at the helm. Those guys could HOOP. And it was like the tiniest building ever. It was like if Manley was 1/2 scale. Tiny building = noise. It was a notoriously tough place to play. And the benches would back right up to the student section so close you could touch a player, and lots of opposing players got annoyed getting grabbed and mocked by students in the stands literally right in front of them.
The Cage, kegs on the Hill at Garber Field, elevator surfing. Ah, when UMass was still 'the zoo'. Now it's actually a great school lol
Southwest is still a cesspool. One of the few that remain. It’s very granola-y now. My mom disapproves heavily. The Cage was great. They played the ragin cajuns last official game. I have a deep love for Amherst the town. My wife went to UMass grad and lived right off the Amherst College campus.
Since it looks like we're putting the big boy pants on, I'd say South Carolina, or Stanford, or a Texas team we haven't played in my memory, like TCU or TTech.I'll start off:
We are due for a West Coast Trip
San Diego State if we can get them away in early November off a bye or the last weekend of the season.
New Stadium opening soon, great trip. Yes they are a G5 team but it would be a very competitive game.
2nd West Coast Choice
UCLA
We haven't played them in like 60 years. Actually with the Alliance this might be more likely than SDSU.
The Rose Bowl is a bucket list for most.
Tucson is surrounded by four mountajn ranges. There are observatory telescopes about 75 miles away at Kitt Peak, some were open to public showings, periodically. National parks on either side were great, excellent hiking trails. DMAFB was my favorite assignment.Yes, I was TDY there a few times: delivery of a plane to a boneyard and working with SOF.
We won that game by 4 points. And just to be clear I would be rooting for SU to give CU a thorough ass kicking as we did in the Fiesta Bowl.
I'd add UNLV to the mix for going west...When I look at possible road trips, I am looking for places that are relatively easy to get to, relatively inexpensive to get to and places that have cool stuff to do that I like near by.
As far as West Coast visits go, I greatly regret not going to see the SU-UW game in Seattle a few years ago. Or the one with Warren Moon a long time ago (late 1970s?). Never been to the Pacific Northwest. Gotta go there before i check out. It has to be one of the most beautiful areas in North America.
No interest in Pullman/Washington State. That is next to Idaho. Gotta be tough to get to, expensive and I think it is a mostly desert out there. And the facility is not one I inspire to visit.
Oregon State, see Washington State. Too out of the way, not much to do, gotta be really hard to get to.
Oregon is also going to be hard to get to but the facility and campus overall would be worth visiting. And it is a lot closer to the Banyon Dunes golf complex than OSU.
I would be really interested in visiting Stanford and Cal. Have never been to San Francisco. Want to visit there. I have heard the Stanford campus is amazing. And it is close to the Monterey peninsula, and all the great golf courses there. For golfer, this is an area I feel I have to visit. Probably harder to get to than the LA schools but it should be fairly reasonable. Love getting Southwest into Syracuse. I suspect it will really help with all these roadies.
I would probably go to UCLA or USC. I have been to LA so visiting that area isn’t that big a deal to me but I have a good friend who is a USC grad and I know he would go and we would play a bunch of golf. He would probably go if we played UCLA too so he could root against them. Want to see the fabled USC campus. Want to see the Coliseum and the Rose Bowl. Want to hear that chant the UCLA fans do that Dino Babers says makes the hair on his arms stand up every time he hears it.
I would go to a San Diego St game too. Want to see the best weather in the country for myself. Want to see the Gas Lamp quarter. Want to visit Tijuana. Want to play the Torrey Pines golf courses and others in the area. With all the ties we have with our coaching staff to San Diego State, I wonder if a home and home might be scheduled soon?
Might go to a game at Utah. Have been to Salt Lake City twice, so the area itself isn’t new to me. Haven’t seen the campus or the stadium there. Would like to visit some of the national parks nearby and see more of the Rockies.
For that reason, I would be down for a visit to Boulder and Colorado. I have already been to Denver, and like SLC, I like it and would visit it again. That area is beautiful and I enjoy being so close to the mountains. nice facility to visit too. There are some interesting courses to visit and I could potentially set some PRs driving the ball in the high altitudes.
I have been to Phoenix, which was cool. Makes me less interested to visit Arizona State (Tempe is right next store). But I have friends in the area and would probably do it.
Would be be interested in visiting Tucson and the University of Arizona. Never been there. Might do a roadie from there to Mexico. Sounds like the campus is worth visiting too.
Hope we schedule a couple of these roadies this decade. Hope the Alliance works. It would be nice to visit some of these places.
I doubt we would ever go west any longer if it wasn't for the Alliance. Traveling way out there is really expensive and tough on the team. Maybe the cost of traveling there will drop dramatically. That seems unlikely.I'd add UNLV to the mix for going west...
We won that game by 4 points.
Great golf in Orange CountyCoastal Carolina = golf
UCF. = golf
USC/UCLA Nice trip
