We need to stop comparing our crowds to Clemson and start comparing ourselves to our NE brethren. Pitt and BC are better comparisons.

Don't know about BC, but I watched the Pitt/Duke game and the crowd was sparse to say the least. Bigger stadium certainly, but it was embarrassing.

I didn't blame them for everything and have often said it is a large group of things going wrong as for SU's lack of success on the field. That said, I am 100% sure that by going to a game and yelling that you have more control over the game than bitching about it while watching on TV. Yelling at tv's really doesn't change the game what so ever but a lot of noise while the other team has the ball certainly can. I can only control what I can control and that is by going to the games. The rest is out of my hands.

And Scooch...of course you can spend your money or time any way you see fit, absolutely. I am simply saying that if the Dome has 45K in it yelling and with passion it would help the team on the field and the recruiting as well. I get bees point about blaming the fans and again I see that but by not going in my eyes...it just makes it more difficult to recruit though we just keep having this endless loop. If the fans (and yes I know there are a bunch of passionate ones like you wrote) do their part there is no blame on them and we can then break down the other problems. To me, it skews the study if the fans are not there as part of the equation. Look...I'm doing my part and now it's up to the football program to do theirs. That's the way I look at it. Again...others can look at it the way they want and that is their right as well.

Well, sure. But it's not like we NEVER draw a good crowd. We've had big, loud crowds for both Clemson and FSU in the past couple years. For prime time games against WVU and Louisville before that.

Yeah, we draw flies a lot too, but SU today ain't Rutgers, Temple and Pitt in the 90s. We weren't ever getting the 5-star kid who had offers from ND and Michigan, and all the game day atmosphere that goes with those places, anyway.

Agreed.

Yale drew 34K when they played Army a few weeks ago.

:)

Not here to blame the fans but I sure wish we had more. That said two points. The fans that do show are great in my opinion. They can make a great deal of noise in games that warrant it. Second point is that after such a long period of non winning seasons at home I think many are just burned out. Not, repeat not, tooting my own horn but since 1980 I've missed three games. I say this because for the first time I am seriously considering not renewing my season tickets. I drive 1 1/2 hours each way for games and never have minded it, the cost for tics, parking, Orange Pack.. has never entered my mind but after this season I have to admit I am burned out.
I will still root with all my heart. I love HCSS and hope he gets a full chance at turning things around. Still I got caught up in the candy offered me this year and firmly believed this would be a positive season. Never was unrealistic, but never expected what I think will be a 3 or 4 win season. In large part that is because of offensive injuries, because a coach who loves his team is still learning and because this years schedule was very unfavorable. I mean lets get real, a bye week after Villanova, four teams with bye weeks before they played us. Point I guess I'm trying to make is sometimes, no matter how much you bleed Orange, no matter how big a fan you are you sometimes have to say enough is enough. Go CUSE.
