Hopkins Gameday...

Hopefully this game is a big confidence booster. Down 8 to 6 it could’ve been more of the same, and put pressure on every game going forward to just make the Tournament.

I think our close defense has been excellent. Except Figueras got lost once, and whiffed on a check too, leading to two easy goals. Other than that, Hop made tough shots and really did not have the easy looks Harvard and Maryland had.

Goalie and Face off excellent.

Offense had 10 goals over 20 minutes (in the first few minutes and last 17). The other 40 minutes we had 3 goals. If we can figure out the scoring droughts we can contend.

Confidence, plus learning to not beat ourselves, and we become very dangerous. ‘Gate will be an interesting test as to where we are.

Massive that we got the big 10 win. They look like the top league with MD and Penn State leading the way. If hop knocks one of them off it would be huge. Playoffs could be in serious jeopardy without this one. Fortunately the guys were playing like that down the stretch.

Question on SSDM play for anyone who knows or wants to guess. Twice in a 10-10 Game Jake Spallina pressed out and got blown by BADLY. Led to unsettled situations, and we were very lucky neither converted, but either one could have changed to outcome of the game. Seemed to be the type of “What the ” things we do unnecessarily to lose games. Anyone know why he did that and why he did it the second time? Is he told to do it? Seemed to be bad strategy.

thinking about who some of the options in the 2nd line could be…

Throwing out true frosh #90 Owen O’Farrell. Looked good against Jax in the opener. Scored off the dodge. Think he’s an attack by trade but the staff needs to get creative there

Not looking to open any wounds, a serious question. Why doesn't SU "erase" the football lines in the Dome during lax season? Maryland is another offender on this.
Totally valid question but, honestly, has it ever caused any confusion/issues for players or refs? The vast majority of these kids grow up playing Lax on their school’s football fields without issue. From an aesthetic standpoint, I’ve never minded it.

man up really struggled without him today. Grant have two new guys on man up changes the way it will flow now i assume. As rhoa is a shooter more then feeder. Which think good to have a sniper on man up

Cordes with 2 and 2. Even when Fin comes back I’d like to see him out there over Deere. Need to find another quality player on the 2nd line as McCarthy isn’t the answer.

I will say that McCarthy took a few wing and SSDM reps today and I thought he performed well. Not sure the players are being put in their most optimal positions to succeed.
Agree with a lot. Unfortunately for Deere, his calling card and the lone reason he’s on the field is for his finishing ability. Hes leaving too much meat on the bone
I do not believe Deere has shown anything that he deserves to be on the field. Is there something I am missing? Cordes looked great and a shame this coaching staff has not developed him over the past 3 years. I think we were sloppy and still won, that should prove what we are capable of when we are running on all cylinders!

I think there may have been one or two incidents in the many years I've watched games when someone has walked over the endline because they lost where it was the design on the end zone. To me it's purely an aesthetics issue.

JHU put a new rug in Homerwood just before the 2024 lacrosse season began, so there were only lacrosse lines on the field. After painting the field for 2024 football, this year even though they removed the paint you could make out where the football markings were because they were less faded (and a slightly darker green) than the rest of the field.

Felt like there were some one on one dodges by Rhoa in the second half. It was encouraging to see some of our offensive players working to create their own shot. Will need to continue to improve as the season progresses
