how many years do we have to pretend

Melo’s kid is coming here. I think that’s Autry’s golden ticket. Maybe it shouldn’t be but I suspect it is.
I don't know man. If we bottom out and win something like ten games or less total while in an ACC that is hot garbage, this year might be it.

I’m not advocating for it. I just know how SU operates. And I could easily see a shakeup of assistants, and a message that the administration believes in Autry, injuries, great incoming class, etc.

They gave Dino every last opportunity. Years. Red’s likely to get more than just 2

Look what happened once they moved on from Dino

The hiring decision wasn’t fine. It was a bad hire on day one and continues to be a bad hire.
If you're honest with yourself and look at the state of the program was gutted you have to build this thing from scratch so let's be fair

Bro you literally answered your own question. Of course “it’s been done”” lol

We aren’t those programs

Davis has 29 wins twice, 20 wins - a S16 and a national championship runner up.
Scheyer has 27 wins in both his years with a round of 32 exit and an elite 8 appearance

It’s been done when it makes sense. This didn’t make sense and we are seeing why.

The defense of Red is mind boggling
You forgot one important fact look how the transition to those coaches was handled. The family Invitational set this program back years. Its easy to win when you have talent

Dino was only here as long as he was because of the buyout. As soon as it became reasonable Wildhack made his move. He actually would have been fired the year previous but he won 7 games. Wildhack has no allegiance to keeping Red, he will make a move if he feels it's necessary.

The hiring decision was lazy. We had NO OUTSIDE INTERVIEWS.
??? Why would you have outside interviews?? They decided they were going to give Red a shot. They knew him well and believed he could get the job done. They believed he had earned that opportunity.

Given those circumstances “they” knew him well enough that there was absolutely no reason for outside interviews.

Whether he is capable of meeting the administration and fans expectations as the head guy is an entirely different question that can’t be answered until he’s had that chance.

The real question is whether they should have hired from within or gone out and gotten a guy with significant head coaching experience.

I just don't see it, I don't know what will happen but I don't see how either of these guys will come here after watching what we've been watching. This isn't coming to come where dad played or come have fun with your friend, we're talking millions and potentially hundreds of millions of dollars in future earnings at stake.
Everyone’s assuming we’re gonna win like 8 games this season. I think it’s more likely we finish around .500. And then those guys will come.

It says his contract runs thru 28 so I dont see how we pay that much this early? Bigger question is why did he get 5 year deal?

We’re not finishing around .500

We’ll be closer to .333

It’s going to be a very ugly season. The fire Red pressure will only grow between now and March.

I'll have what your drinking.
I could be all wet, for sure. It’s just that the ACC is turrrrible. I think we’ll win some home games. Scratch our way to 13-18 or something.

The under 10 stuff I think is ridiculous. I’ve heard it before too.

What does gutted even mean though? The players stunk? They are all gone, and Red recruited his own players that are way worse!

I assume they kept red for the relationships, and he’s been recruiting for Syracuse throughout , and I’m sure they can get JB on the phone to make some calls if need so I’m just not sure what people mean when they ominously say stuff like that

I remember when we got blown out on New Year’s Day one year at BC (it was one of the Lydon years) we heard that.

Hindsight is 20/20. The hiring decision was fine. He’s been better at the part that was the problem, recruiting and portal usage. We just didn’t expect him to be as bad at the coaching part as he seems to be.

Probably time to move on to somebody different and probably somebody outside of the ‘family.’

If the only reason to keep red it to keep Melo happy, then why don’t they put melo on a search committee for a new coach?

Entirely possible the football team ends up with more wins than the hoops team.

With no timeline for JJ returning, it isn’t that ridiculous.
We’ll see. Finishing 12-19 would be what, worst season in 50 years (no idea) and that’s still not under 10! ;)

I was not aware of that. If true... good lord.

100%, everyone complaining that a national search wasn't done doesn't realize JB was gonna go scorched earth on the way out if SU didn't hire red. It's been mentioned a dozen + times now, SU didn't do a national search because they couldn't.
So what? It's such dumb rationalization to justify piss poor decision making.

JB DID scorch the earth on the way out -- right after he lost his last game, in the first round of the ACC tournament. Remember when in the post game presser, when he declared that he wouldn't be forced into retirement -- that he and he alone would make the choice about when he stepped down?

The next day, he was relieved of duty.

The band aid had to be ripped off. When it finally was, Wildhack was free to move forward. He chose the path of least resistance.

People can argue that this approach was easiest, or the one that would appease the most members of the fanbase -- but let's dispense with "couldn't" talk. Total BS.
