Not sure if this was discussed, but before tonight only 2 teams had not allowed a 100 yard rusher. Ohio State just gave up 128 yards to Michigan State running back Jeremy Langford. So with that, the only College Football team to not allow a 100 yard rusher this year is Syracuse.

Haha thank you! Just trying to contribute any way I can.

It's an accomplishment to not allow a 100 yard rusher in a year. But it's also a bit deceptive as a stat. Good thing FSU only handed the ball to Karlos Williams 4 times against us. He rushed for 78 yards, a mere 19.5 yds. per rush.

Georgia Tech had rushers 0f 95 75 72 and 56 yards. Kind of a useless stat is it not?

I mean, there are three kinds right? Liars, damn liars and statisticians?

That maybe true but we also held the best RB in the country (Williams) to 24 yards on 8 carries before knocking him out of the game, 26 of those yards came on one play. The other 7 times he ran the ball we held him to -2 yards.

I bet we are the only team in the country to allow four rushers to have 50+ yards in a game. Haha that's crazy!

That would be a great stat if we did not have 4 blowout losses on our resume.

Still, it's a fun stat.

I don't think so. In the games against average offenses (outside of GT, FSU, and Clemson) - our run D was fantastic. So, it's a bit deceiving and the blow outs take some shine off the stat - but the relevant question is: Does Minny have an elite offense? I don't think so.

Not useless. Spin it, advertise it to recruits.

At the end of the day, there is only one team that can say it. That fact alone suggests there is more to it than "fluke" or "useless".

Stats tell a story, it might not be the story you would tell, or would want to hear, but they do tell a story.
