Hunt is not a QB

Hunt wasn't great throwing today, but why are our guys never wide open like others teams seem to be? Hunt is the least of our worries. Our OC needs to scheme some guys open. Half the time Hunt doesn't have anywhere to go with the ball.

And why do we insist on throwing bubble screens to Custis? Talk about waste of talent.

What'd we waste his redshirt for? A quarter of the season gone, he's got about six touches, zero in a space where he can do anything positive.

Horrible job by the staff.

He threw at least 3 balls so high over his WR's head that even jumping in the air they couldn't get their hands on the ball

He threw at least 3 passes so far behind his WR's that he's lucky at least 2 of them weren't picked off

He missed at least 3 open WR's (maybe 3 in each half) when he didn't go through his reads fast enough. He stayed on his primary receiver to the point that by the time he started going through his reads his WR's had made their breaks 10 yards before. The 10 yards bit might be a slight exaggeration... for a couple of the plays.

Good thing he's not at fault for the play of the offense. Just because Hunt can rack up yards and get some first downs by running the ball doesn't mean that is the best thing moving forward. He's running the ball because he had a terrible day throwing the ball. Part way through the 2nd half it was obvious he wasn't sure of himself because he started looking to leave the pocket much earlier.

There is a lot of blame to go around, so I'm not dumping just on Hunt but clearly he played poorly today. To indicate he was fine and everyone else is to blame is a little mind boggling. Ok, very mind boggling.

Eli has thrown at least 100 balls over WRs heads. Do you 'cking watch football?!? He will be in the HOF?! Go to bed!! The

i'm a big fan but at this point he's more darren mcfadden than donovan mcnabb

Hunt is the present, not the future. I understand wanting a mobile QB but eventually to succeed as a program we will need a QB who can run when necessary and not a RB who will pass when necessary. He misses too many throws and misses the proper read a majority of the time. Some of you may be excited to see a QB rack up rushing yards but a QB should have the ability to rack up passing yards as well. Our receivers aren't great and will drop a ball on occasion. During the game yesterday the commentators were talking about the ACC player of the week and brought up BC's QB. I thought there was a typo because the stats they pulled up for him were rushing stats. Hunt is serviceable but not the next McNabb/Graves as people were trying to portray him as. He's more RJ Anderson or Perry Patterson.

AND FOR THE SAKE OF ALL THAT IS HOLY PLEASE STOP WITH THE LATERAL PASS PLAYS! I feel like half of the throws are fumbles if not caught.

He'll be in the HOF? LOL, that is a guarantee? He has played so poorly lately, he's just as likely played himself out of the HOF.

I can't believe you used a QB that was one of the worst in the league last year to try and make your point. He would have won the most detrimental player on the team if there was such a thing, how many games did he singlehandedly lose by himself.

Are you being sarcastic? At some point what you see is what you get

How did Nassib look his sophomore year. How about his junior year, when we went 5-7, losing the last five games of the year? And how did he look his senior year?

Was it what you see is what you get with him? Because he was much better as a senior.

Yep. Guarantee.

Most detrimental??

My lord, does anyone here understand football??

Would love to bet some money on Eli not making the HOF.

Was anybody talking to you? You add lots of cute posts but rarely/never anything of substance.

Well, we're three games into his junior year, and still very few signs he can throw the ball even against the weak competition we've seen so far this year. You are describing hope- Nassib improved year to year and frankly we're not seeing that out of Hunt. I hope your comparison comes true and Hunt becomes a serviceable passer to go along with his legs. He is running out of eligibility so now would be the time to start showing the progression Nassib did.

Partially a tongue in cheek comment when someone says, "Do you 'cking watch football" and then tells me to go to bed.

HOF is also determined on totality of career, his career has been incredibly up and down. If his numbers stay pretty mediocre over the next few years it will be interesting.

Yeah--he's running out of eligibility... three games into his junior year.

He didn't have the most accurate passing game yesterday--granted. But some of you are really laying it on thick when it comes to criticizing his play, his potential, and his passing aptitude.

And you are also overlooking that the team's leading receiver--Broyld--missed a significant portion of yesterday's game with an injury. Think that might have had an effect?

Hunt has to stay consistent and he hit throws perfectly against CMU so that potential is there. He struggled throwing, plus let's add the receivers did not help at all either, and went back to what he had confidence in...running the ball. He HAS to improve his vision of the field. Guys were open. All kinds of open. The tape should show him if his foot placement was off or shoulders or release. He has a good arm, can make plays with his feet so if he continues to improve those weaknesses the offense will be finishing those redzone visits to TD's and not debacles.

Hunt was fine, if you take away three drops two that killed early drives when we fell behind he was really ok. He is not a great passer nor do I think he will be but he can be a very good college QB. And please, stop with the he throws too hard on short crossing routes. If you have a lane you zip it in there and the receiver better catch it if its on the money, You put touch on the ball when you have to get over the defender.

I was thinking Perry Patterson, but yeah I agree. Not sure Hunt running the ball is the dynamic offense we were hoping for this year.

600 yds. 150+ yds running in one game. I'd sign up for that any week.

Just need a few more points and that's a nice start to a pretty dynamic offense.

Yep. There's the rub.

Yep. There's the rub.

You think last weeks performance on O complete with a lack of points will be the norm?

I'll take the 600 yds vs ND and every other team on the schedule. Points will come.

I'd be more worried if I were Maryland. Big plays dry up. They were largely ineffective running the ball and their defense is atrocious. Sure they won - but I wouldn't put any money on them in any game moving fwd.

Hunt has to learn to step up in the pocket better and keep his head up looking for receivers. I truly believe he can be a very good qb if he continues to develop his weaknesses which most importantly, he can do. What I'd like to see are the receivers taking off long instead of blocking and Hunt throwing to them when he steps up and the D thinks he is going to take off.

We lost the game on 4 plays. We fix 3 out of the 4 and i'm not sure we're having this conversation.

Blown screen pass. ---- Not Hunt. 7 pts MD
Missed FG -----Not Hunt. -3 pts
Foy Holding ------ Not Hunt -7 pts
Hunt pick 6 ------ Hunt 7pts MD

Fix any 3 of those mistakes and we are talking about College Gameday going to MetLife and breaking into the top 25. Then who's criticizing?

You can't just talk about those plays in a vacuum. MD was essentially playing to kill the clock in the second half up 18 at halftime, and up by 21 until 0:50 in the 4th quarter. They played bend but don't break defense in the second half allowing for yards but no points. They were happy with us running as long as we didn't score.

I will give you that if we hadn't screwed up royally in the 2nd Quarter, or if we got touchdowns instead of field goals for our first two scores it would have been a different ball game (closer score either way). I will not say that if three out of four plays were different we would have won.
