Hunt is not a QB

Let's not kid ourselves- the most important position on the field by far is the qb. He handles the ball

My eight win proclamation? Dude you need to get a grip- I've not suggested Hunt was the worst qb in program history, nor do I think 8 win seasons should be something that we not only aspire to but actually achieve on a more regular basis than once every four years. All I've stated is that Hint is average. Perhaps I simply have higher standards than you, but it is definitely time to disengage.

"Frankly we should set our goals higher than 8 wins once every four years. We deserve much better than this."

You don't have higher standards--you have a worse memory.

My personal favorite is the "we deserve better than this", gotta ask what was done that makes us entitled to 8+ wins a year ... did someone on this board cure cancer or HIV or something? The one thing I can say is this ... we were absolutely spoiled by some of the teams that played on the hill when you consider what goes into building a program at a small private institution in an area that isn't exactly a HS football hotbed ... so now when this team wins 8+ games I treat it as a true blessing. The fact is we aren't entitled to nor do we deserve anything ... if anything these kids deserve the opportunity to represent us on the field because they made the choice to do so ... they chose that school to represent and in turn they are representing us ... nothing you can do or say will change that, period.

So whether you feel Terrell Hunt is or isn't a QB or is or isn't a good QB in the long run doesn't matter ... Terrell Hunt for better or worse is our QB and puts on that uniform and represents the university. When you consider what that kid has overcome and where he is now I have a lot of respect for him and I think he will improve and he is still growing and learning a challenging position. I guess for all intents and purposes he still has a lot left in the tank and a lot to prove ... lets let the season play out and then come back and visit this conversation.

Somebody else using logic and making sense , how refreshing . Thanx Mack.

We see what we want to see. Those who are anti-McDonald focus their frustration on coaching. Those who are anti-Hunt lay the blame on the QB. Others point to lack of explosive skilled playmakers as the root cause. When in actuality, it is a little bit of all three.

True but SU doesn't have a Harrison, Moore or Ishmal that can take it to the house. Good talent but not elite. I agree with you it is a mix of all.

I thought we were disengaging from conversation? Couldn't stay away I guess- But this comment does offer an insight as to why you're happy with Hunts mediocre play. Your acceptance of mediocrity is pathetic, and sadly all too common among our fan base. We have won Natl titles and Heismann trophies. We have top hoops and lax teams- why can we not expect to be occasionally excellent and compete for at least an ACC title in football? That's all I'm asking for, but, for an average loving fan like you six win seasons and trips to the Pinstripe Bowl are sufficient. Let me correct myself: "I" deserve better as a fan, but you deserve whatever you can get, precisely because you are willing to accept it.

Whatever. I'm not going to stoop to your level of name calling.

statesman, you think that Hunt is mediocre. And based upon this thread, there are a number of posters who agree with you. Also judging from this thread, there are a number of posters that do NOT agree with your perspective. Just because you believe something wholeheartedly does not make it fact. And your congenital incapability of engaging in civil dialogue, and instead responding with churlish straw man hyperbole just because somebody doesn't agree with your perspective, is flat out childish.

Lastly, repeatedly stating something false several times doesn't make it more true. You couldn't be more, flat out wrong about me accepting mediocrity. Laughable. A continuation of an incredibly poor streak of posting on your part throughout this thread.

Frankly, you posting in a thread throwing one of our kids under the bus reflects more poorly on the quality of your fandom of this program than your goofy, baseless accusations reflect upon mine. Just sayin'.

For a guy who claimed two days ago to want to agree to disagree and end the discussion, you sure seem to be having a hard time letting go! I admire your sticktoitiveness, or perhaps you are a masochist and are simply returning for another internet forum beating. For the record, I've not called you any names, despite your accusation. Perhaps you are just overly sensitive. On the contrary, it is you who stoops to such levels, calling me "childish" and "goofy" after stating you won't stoop to name calling in your preceding paragraph. You can't even make up your mind on name calling, which in addition to being quite passive aggressive is a poor substitute for a coherent argument. Wait a minute- I apologize! I think I did refer to you earlier as a Fanboy, which despite my use of it as a derogatory term, is quite likely also accurate- especially if you are so overly protective of Hunt that you consider an anonymous poster on a fan website expressing a personal assessment of his play thus far as "average" as "throwing him under the bus". How could I be such a heartless monster?

I've stated that you are willing to accept mediocrity- which you vehemently deny even as you defend it. This seems odd to me because the basis for your defense of Hunts mediocre play, is to point out the mediocre history of SU Football. Therefore Hunt's mediocre play must also be not only acceptable-but since we have in prior years stunk average play is now redefined by you as exceptional, because our standards have been lowered? Huh? This is the best you can come up with? You are not only accepting of mediocrity you are actively promoting it! Literally any-other-argument you could have come up with would have been more sound. Your attempt at a logic is truly laughable and I thank you for providing me a weeks worth of entertainment- and please believe me when I tell you I am laughing AT you, not with you! You have failed on the logic of your argument, just as you have failed to exit the conversation as you previously promised, which I'm sure many on this board regret deeply. Let's just agree that we are each entitled to opposing opinions and we can part ways as friends, me having gotten the better of you all week. Just sayin'!
