I am sure I will get killed for this

What more will we know? They haven't won at Pitt in 19 years lol. The defense will likely compete... tho we will see how the 3-3-5 does against run heavy offenses.

On the other side of the ball I think they don't score a TD again. As long is DeVito is under center this team has no chance. Mentally he is not there and doesn't have the ability to make plays when the pocket collapses.
I disagree. I don’t think this loss falls on Tommy’s shoulders. Too many dropped balla by the WRs and we are very limited at RB. It’s going to be a long season.

how about his biggest issue is that he hasn't been successful in recruiting a better qb than his first big qb recruit. Do we really think that what is behind him is better?
It was...

You compared us to two programs (that we split with) that both would've been road dogs today.

I am not talking individual games. BC has made a Bowl 6 of the last 7 years. Wake has made a Bowl the last 4 years. That is all I am asking from SU. That is my point. Not sure where you are trying to twist this to. If you think SU is on par with BC and Wake as a program, I don't know what to tell you. Whether we beat Wake/BC or not in a single season, we have made a Bowl only SIX times in the 2000s. I'll trade with either of those programs in a heartbeat the last 20 years. is asking for our HC to be on par as a program with Wake or BC asking too much? If so, we can all give up.

the floor has to be 6-6 every year after this corona year. I won’t say anything about it even if I complain a lot (which I will) but from years on he has to make a bowl every year.

It was...

This is the second time that you have implied this, and I know you have connections with current players.

Putting 2 + 2 together, I'm pretty sure there are parts of the team that saw what your source saw.

Babers is stubborn, if not anything else. QB is a huge issue no matter what people say about improved play.
Not saying we win today with a better QB, but we certainly score more than 6 points.

This is INSANITY. Shortened offseason with two new coordinators, most of the offense/defense install was in fall camp because spring camp got cancelled. The defense showed incredible flashes of what it could be and got let down by the offense. Tackling on special teams returns was tough as you don't practice that thing live.

Tommy actually threw the ball away today, avoided pressure and had some nice scrambles. The OL has some major injuries and once again is the main thing holding us back. We were a few inches away from multiple TDs today. That's rust & timing.

I'm frustrated but let's be a bit realistic too. We lost to the #18 ranked team in the country on the road. #24 ISU lost to ULL at home by 17 today, Kansas State lost to Arkansas State at home today.

I'm NOT putting Dino on the hot seat. Come on.

I get all that but what about the continued issues with redzone play calling, refusal to work the middle of the field, continued lack of discipline and the horrid clock management. Covid or not that should at least be improved in year 5 instead its worse then everevera

Babers Biggest issue appears to be his inability to turn his back on his first big quarterback recruit

And play WHO???!!!

Rex?

A RS Frosh?
True Frosh?

Wildcat!!! :p

I'll take 5-6 going into the last game each year as the floor. Even if you lose (end 5-7) at least you had a decent enough year to almost make a Bowl. You were close. Being 4-7 or worse going into the last game should be a rare occurrence not the norm like it has been. If Babers is 4-7 going into the last game, five out of six years, and recruiting hasn't improved, how the heck can you justify keeping him? That being said that is a huge assumption. We still can have a winning record this year, and/or next. We don't know what is going to happen. At the same time after the first 50 games, there is a reason to be a little concerned.

Not to mention playcalling in general. Running up the middle on 70% of the running plays with a 175 lb. freshman probably isn't the answer. And you've known for awhile that the other two RB's weren't playing.

How about anything to the outside. How about a little misdirection. How about anything?

Misdirection, what's that?

But at what point do we start asking some tough questions about the HC. Its year 5 and we look like its year 1 out there save for the defense..

Clearly 2018 was outstanding but its looking more and more like an outlier. Were in year 5 still making the same mistakes over and over and over.

Zero discipline, same pre snap and dumb penalties and clock management that would make Coach P and Deleone blush. Coordinators changed but offense is just as bad and we still have no idea how to run an offense in the red zone or manage the clock. QB is barren besides Devito and despite a pass heavy offense its been beyond a struggle to get a 4 star QB or WR to come on board.

Not calling for Babers to be let go that's crazy but its a real bad sign in my mind that were seeing the same issues yet again.

This offense is broken and remains broken. How many years can we watch these defenses carry the load carry the load carry the load and then finally break while the offense looks amateur hour? And its not all Devito. The play calling is predictable and not even a bit creative. The team has no discipline. The routes are stupid and too close to the sideline. We refuse to stretch the field beyond the occasional downfield chuck 3 yards out of bounds. And Devito now has gone from careless at points last season to ultra risk averse to the point of throwing balls away down big in the 4th when we really have no time left to punt away and try again later.

We have a bowl-ready defense and a pop warner offense and it is utterly miserable to watch. I'm starting to believe Eric Dungey succeeded despite Dino.

He’s an offensive coach. Why is it our d is recruiting increasingly well, but we can’t get guys on O? Our O recruits are pretty good, but we’ve not seen the needle move to “improving” on that end

Good point and I think the converse point on this thread is that he does recruit some decent talent but for some reason hasn't developed the wrs as we wound have thought. Size and talent wise ther was as obvious discrepancy out there today looking at our O and their D. From benson blocking on the edge to wr routes. The fact is dino did it with refined wrs like erv, ish,and custis who were program guys with shafer and 1 year transfers Like aet and Tristan .
