I assume the fan group they created is still active?

Not really familiar with the campus but is there even a spot for thousands of people to gather for tailgating?

We had a great time at the tailgate and did get to talk to a few people from here. The food was amazing and the atmosphere was amazing, we are both a bit socially awkward striking up conversations with random people but will do better next time lol. The game experience was terrible for the most part, sounds system was not good as you could only here the music and a few other things and every time they played a clip from the 87 team it had some bad glitch or awful sound. The "entertainment" during commercial breaks was a joke and seems like they had no idea what they where doing. The bell might be one of the worse things I've seen at a sporting event as you could barely hear it and it was well after the score had happened, plus why not get some students to do it and not their grandparents? What happened to the exciting new entrance? Why did we not use WHOSE HOUSE, OUR HOUSE? It's on ESPN and the speech is how a lot of causal people know us at this point behind stupid not to use it. Most of the "fans" around us where interesting in spending to much money on beer and practicing wrestling moves on each other then the game. I'm not sure how we fix this but I clearly understand why causal fans don't want to come to games as being in the comfort of your home is a better option at this point.
We still plan on coming to as many as we can, no more this year as babyPACuse is coming soon!, but SU really needs to work on a lot of things or might just stick to some away games (which I really really don't want to do).

The new intro video was pretty good and highlighted some of our top guys but, going along with the theme of the day, they completely butchered the timing of the video and the run-out music.

You think the fact that the game was on a Friday while classes were going on had something to do with the Quad not being turned into a circus?

The bell is Hobartish

I thought that while I was there too. Plus Hendricks is a mess through October I think.

While my son missed out on a free slice of Marks pizza (who cares), he gained time in the Dome looking at Csonka, trophies, and learning more Orange history. It's all how you look at it I guess.

This thread really bothers me. There are things that are difficult to change and this is not one of them. This is an area that simply should be top notch and make people want to come. This was the start of the season of which you only get a few games in the dome. How the hell are you not trying to create an atmosphere to match the excitement of the start of the season.

Unbelievably disappointed.

No, I saw her at the game though lol. I had my "I married into this" shirt on. I thought you commented on it. Maybe that was someone else lol
Saw another person with that shirt in the Harrison Lot and told them I loved it

It didn't look much better on tv, if we are that short of selling out the top area(s) for certain games why not tarp them off, sell it to a sponsor or give a current sponsor added value

The empty seats, lack of energy and dull student section were sad to see.

Yes I wasn't there but I live in Indianapolis, I will be at the Florida State and Louisville away games to support the program.

It's a good video, but does nothing to pump you up. I shared this in the Wildhack Tidbits thread:

My buddies were livid that the entrance video didn't somehow incorporate that speech into it. I thought the entrance video was pretty lame actually. Didn't get me pumped up and then after it was over, everyone stood around for 3 minutes with some random music playing until the team just ran out. The game day production continues to be a completely disjointed experience.

I have a question, how much input does Wildhack dedicate to this topic? Does he just delegate the changes or do you guys/girls think that he inspects all changes and signs off before implemented? If he is not actually seeing/hearing these changes then I have many concerns about their importance to him and the University.

Pete Sala is a good guy but lives in the past. He was the one to bring back the cow bell, not Wildhack.

Here is what is typical university mentality - Pete Sala is running the Dome at peak efficiency - so much so that he's also sucked the living life and fun out of the gameday experience too. So as a typical administrator he will check box everything saying we ran this ship Friday night with no mistakes or injuries - check. Let's do the same next week - check. Don't let people out at halftime to go back to their tailgate then come back - lets blame it on smokers - check. Forget the pregame experience, now that I'm in charge of all facilities let's also keep all the grounds outside in perfect condition and not allow any festivities on the grounds - check.

The quad - SUs holy ground, they really don't want anyone there to mess up the lawn. Only 2 tents were set up whereas just 15 years ago the lawn was packed with tents and things to do. Unlike other universities where they welcome everyone everywhere to set up game day tents on any piece of grass, SU doesn't allow it because they are exclusive not inclusive of anyone outside the university to enjoy themselves pregame. While I know it's up to fans to create their own game day experience, with the parking lots situation that's terrible for football tailgating, they need to open up that quad for all fans and be far more community inclusive - meaning hey, if you don't have a parking pass in a close lot where you can tailgate and must walk a long way to get to the Dome - stop by the quad and do lots of stuff.

Instead, Pete and the administration have effectively "sucked the life and fun out of pregame" - check. I brought with me this game an out of town friend and his comment was that the Quad & Dome seem very cold and unfriendly compared his university where they invite and encourage people to come and have fun. I've been there on game days and it's really night and day difference...it's simply a shame because it could very easily be so much better.
One of the unintended consequences of banning smoking were the people who decided to just climb to the rafters and smoke inside. It was hilarious when security removed them they were walking down the stairs yelling "êff all you snowflakes" while giving the middle finger". My 12 year old was quite entertained.

some of the bathrooms were a bit hazy too
I said to my wife "how bad can the addiction be that you can't freaking go 3 hours without a cigarette?"

She said " ok, how about you don't have a single beer next game?"

"BITE YOUR TONGUE!" he exclaimed

This bugs me to no end. We have a golden opportunity in Whose House? Our House! and we're not using it! How pumped were we when it happened and we STILL talk about it here. It's actually been my ringtone since then lol. Even my young kids, who could give a hoot about football, go nuts when they hear it. I kept waiting for it. I thought they'd run out in the tunnel to it, nope. Then maybe I thought they'd use it how you suggested... or at the end of the game (it's not their fault...) Gah! Someone please implement this!

Next game: Otto wrecks the bell with a sledge hammer followed by the Elmira Express intro video and train whistle commences.
Ha that was me that commented on your great shirt! Was going to say who was that hot chick in the awesome T-shirt but didn't want pacuse decking me! ☺️

No seriously that shirt was the bomb. We will be sure to pull you and your hubby deep into the den of lunatics at the next tailgate!

Haha thanks! The shirt is 100% accurate... except now I'm pretty well obsessed.
