And it's a silly time for me to start, but with all the media appearances and whatnot today, it's really stood out to me.

I really wish Coach would give Roberson some more credit in all his interviews and press conferences. I'm watching like the 6th live appearance he's made on various shows today and he rightfully praises the freshmen and seniors but hasn't said Roberson's name once. It seems all the commentators are enamored with his motor and ability to rebound and keep plays alive, but Boeheim just never mentions him afterward. Granted he didn't quite have the impact against Virginia that he did against Gonzaga, but to me it seems it's not the first time he's left him out of the praise.

Nitpicky, for sure, but I just think the kid deserves a little more praise. Plus I just love the damn kid.

Roberson plays better when he's in coach's dog house. One the previous game's press conferences he did give Roberson some love.

+1. I thought his comments during the season about Roberson "If I had literally anyone else..." were also a little weird. They weren't THAT off base, Roberson was kinda mailing it in during that stretch, but they still felt very aggressive. Maybe he just knows his guy? Maybe if Roberson is fed some accolades right now, his motor will slow down because he has now proven himself to JB? Willing to give Jimmy the benefit of the doubt here.

he mentioned him in one i heard on how lydon and roberson kept the ball alive. the one where Mal faked out the center was only caused by roberson crashing and knocking the ball up in the air.

Yeah I know better than to question Coach's motives. He knows his players better than anybody. It just stands out right now with all the publicity we are getting as a team. If it's what it takes to keep Tyler motivated, it's unfortunate but I understand.

I agree with you. It has been nice hearing national announcers finally recognizing what a potential beast Roberson can be though. The freshman, seniors, Coleman's length of injury, the zone defense, the various b*ns, etc, all seemed like the staple talking points before Roberson would get brought up as an aside like the rest. If he continues to do his thing, JB will have little choice but to mention him. So nice seeing Tyler get open when other defenses sleep on him, and I hope to see more of that. Maybe JB does too? Who knows?

I guess JB did do the locker room antics or whatever about him that everyone was raving about. The one where folks like Tee, myself, and some others admit we still dont know what he said but apparently folks liked it a lot!

It's also possible that Boeheim realizes that perhaps the biggest key to our run has been Roberson's impact on the boards, and the less he can do to draw opposing coaches and players attention toward that, the better.
