I have been as cavalier about JB’s job as anyone

Yeah I said to the people sitting around me that this ceremony and his speech were like something you would do for a retirement. It’s almost as if it’s going to be some unofficial things like this because JB doesn’t want an official farewell tour like Coach K had.

He was struggling holding back tears and on tv looked like he came close to crying. It’s not easy getting old, This is his whole life and it’s extremely emotional when all these things are coming to an end. It’s not just his career it’s his mortality. The whole GTown thing and rivalry stuff and all the remembrances etc…it’s gotta be hard, Big John and Pearl are gone.

I hope he wins this year. The man does not deserve to go out badly..

This post is all OPINION:

It is time for him to go. I so hope it is after this year on HIS terms. I really hope he doesn’t force the University’s hand and make them do what they need to do. It is hard to walk away from something you love and have given your entire life towards. I can’t imagine being in Jim’s Shoes and having to make that decision. He was pretty emotional today. But I hope he announces just before the last home game so that the fans can give him the appreciation and send off that he deserves for a Hall of Fame career.

to my chagrin, as I try to be a better person, but at halftime, he sounded like a man not long for the job he loves.
There was a sadness to his tone.

Yeah, he got emotional during his speech. I was kind of shocked to see him out there, to be honest, when I figured he'd be in the locker room. I think this is the final year.

I missed the game ("Come From Away" with my wife, outstanding) - any video of the speech available?

Julie wasn't holding back her tears.

Watched the game at home and felt the same way with what they showed from the ceremony.

Doing these ceremonies because it his last year. No recruits, no new offers out, Gmac and Hak jerseys retired for last game. That last home game will be quite a crowd because it could be his last one at the Dome.

Side note, hes got them playing better ball lately. Everyone that played contributed, which was good to see.

Surprised the crowd wasn’t bigger. Wish I could’ve been there but I watched the game on a beach in Mexico.

They listed it as 20,000, but I think the actual fannies in seats count was closer to 14- or 15,000. Most of the upper level was empty, moderate attendance in the mid-level, bottom bowl mostly pretty full (~ 3/4) except behind the baskets. I think I only counted 4 or 5 tubas, as well.

I think me and the boy will get some tickets for that March 4th final home game just in case. Even if the team isn’t in a tournament, he deserves a full dome for that final game if it’s possibly his last time walking on the court. Very few people get the chance to see a Hall of Famer close out a career. I have some friends that I know would join as well.

Hak and GMac jersey retirements. Wouldn't be surprised if Melo, Forth and others were in the house to help celebrate. Jesse and JG3 Senior Day. Possibly Symir also. Why wouldn't people want to go?

Like today. Why would 5000+ people stay home on a beautiful CNY Saturday afternoon against one of our biggest traditional rivals. I understand if it's a Tuesday night 9 pm game with ten inches of snow on the ground.
