I think Shafer was still learning the intricacies of being a HC during that moment. Shafer was still in D-Coordinator in the booth mode with that outburst and the HC who is supposed to be the leader.
Dabo should have kicked the FG as it was the 2nd quarter. Going for the TD with the kicker Clemson had last year was the correct call if it was the 2nd half teams don't kick FGs in blowouts. Shafer was pissed Dabo was going for the embarrassing kill shot so early and was fired up with the stop. I think Shafer with more reps as a HC wouldn't react like that now but that was his 5th game on the sideline as he was always in the booth as a coordinator and let the emotion come out.
