I Need Help

To make the dome roof look a little more festive and not a cavernous as another fan put it. Why not add some orange and blue lights that shine on the dome roof and turn it from grey to Orange and blue.

Also, I posted previously about real grilled food stations outside the dome at each gate with real grilled Hoffman hot dogs, Gianelli Sausage, good burgers, Kielbasa, real deep fried fresh cut french fries, chicken tenders, etc. That way you don't have to worry about fume hoods and indoor health dept bullcrap and the food would be real and not steamed.

Just like you allow people to go out and smoke at certain gates, let people go out and get real food at each gate and re-enter. I think you would be amazed how it clears the concourse during halftime, gets people real food and gets them back in the game. If a few people sneak in during that time so be it, more people cheering for the orange.

Just a thought and wouldn't be expensive as you could contract out the space to different vendors and make money.

How about renting out space around the Dome (just like boxes inside) and allow companies (or individuals if they can afford it) to rent tents & tailgates where Dome food operations supply the food. Dome ops makes money, no cleanup for people but allow for at least BYOB alcohol otherwise another wasted idea.

If you allow alcohol inside, never understood why not outside. Never understood why the Orange Club tent doesn't serve at least beer or wine. Stopped paying for and going to tent because of that.

I think after most games, most wouldn't want to bother to wait around to be checked out unless it was some outrageous prize. It would really crowd up the exits. But I do like the suggestions saying to paint the concrete walls (or even seats) orange. Don't think that would cost too too much, and it really would make it look nicer.

What do student tickets cost per game?

2) After halftime, don't move half the band to another section in the dome. People pay to watch football, even the people in the 300 level. Nothing worse then trying to focus on the game but now a bunch of band members are blowing your brains out 4 rows behind ya and you can't hear the PA announcer, the ref on the mic, or anything being said on the video boards. Leave the band in the endzone!.[/QUOTE]

this is #1. i hate hate hate this. what a terrible idea. keep the band together please.

Hello, lets step out of the stone age and implement LED lighting... I think this is being used in the IPF.
Syracuse has one of the best LED lighting companies in the Country. They setup tons of new stadiums and redo old ones as well.

I don't know how many people can use this but humor me. We have a group of season tickets but we can't get to all the games. We love the mycuse account online ticket transfer - it's great. Our problem is we don't really know who to transfer the tickets too - we scramble around, try to find takers. It becomes a bit of a hassle. I don't want to give them to a scalper who'll just sell it to someone who'd go to the box office.

Maybe there could be some list of verified charities or youth groups that can always use the tickets and people can easily transfer unused tickets to people who would appreciate them - you'd want to make sure the groups are not groups that would otherwise be able to afford to buy their own, i don't want to hurt ticket sales. But you guys might be in a position to determine which groups would qualify.

Butts in the seats, extra concessions, potential for them to be future ticket buyers. It would just be a drop down in the transfer tickets section and maybe a little cost of notifying people of the option. Not much risk

A lot of my ideas are based on the premise that the Dome is structurally sound and won't need replaced for another 15+ years. Anyone in the know care to conjecture about the structural state of the Dome?

It'll need a roof in another 5-10 years. When the roof's down they can change the lights.

Other than that, the Dome should be fine for another 30 years or so.

Maybe $15? Not sure, why?

Trying to figure out budget to work with for potential prizes. Sell 60 more tickets @ $15 = $900. Give out an iphone (or the like) each game would = more than 60 tickets sold. Think something like that would fly to get college kids interested?

edit - Hell you could tie the level prize given away to the number of students in the section at the start and end of the game.

Already one of my ideas. Incentives incentives incentives incentives incentives

Maybe, one possible incentive could be giving the kids a food incentive on their respective meal plans? Show up and stay the entire game, and each participating student is honored by getting a meal credit of some sort, etc. Local restaurants here in the Charlotte area offer various incentives after a Panthers victory...Red Robin offers patrons a free burger and fries the Tuesday following a Panther's win with a purchase of another entrée...

All,

I'm not sure what to say here. I've been out sick the past two days and was dealing with it at the game Saturday. Very happy how the dance performance turned out, but everything else I always leave to you guys.

However I need help here.

The past two games one of our initiatives has been to pull a list of those who bought single game tickets off of ticketmaster and reach out to those patrons. I came up with an email to thank them for purchasing and supporting the program and so on. Everyone loved it and customer service is one of my core values here. Nothing more satisfying than helping fellow 'Cuse fans.

However my next plan here is to send out a thank you email to mini plan & season ticket holders. I know I speak for absolutely everyone in the department by saying thank you for supporting this team.

My point of this post is to get a jumpstart on that. Some of you may be getting an email from me in the upcoming weeks and know why I am doing it -- to thank you and hopefully improve your Dome experience.

So guys lay it on me. Aside from uniforms, coaching, players, etc -- how can I improve your experience. What would you do differently? What stays? What goes? I just want ideas. I want this to be a place you guys come to and truly love coming to over and over like it is for me 2 and a half years into it.

I appreciate the time and thoughts guys.

Ditch the security theatre (wanding, etc.) during entry.

More band. Less D.J.

Way less Mr. Excitement.

Negative on that.

Dan--

Is it safe to assume that if a poster here is a season ticket holder and has a ticket issue/question, they can contact you for a possible remedy/answer?

Thank you for coming on here and trying to improve the product. It's greatly appreciated as are the many great ideas by those on this board.

One is a safety issue. While exiting...The road before the tennis court now has rocks which I assume are for decoration make it difficult to cross due to the buses and cars. Used to be able to walk on that side (right on way back) and not have to cross.

...

SU wanted to widen the street and the ADA requires a wider sidewalk than SU was willing to provide. Solution? Remove the sidewalk.

I agree; it's not an improvement.

Have long argued that SU should do this on the Quad, Hendricks Field, and other open spaces. It'd loosen up the perceived parking crunch and get more activity around the stadium.

DPS and other SU departments aren't exactly rowing in the same direction as Dome management on this one.

I'll echo those who suggested a focus on educating the crowd about cheers, chants, etc. Honestly, it's utterly embarrassing how awful SU fans are at that stuff.

SU has tons of history and traditions that have been forgotten and ignored. Bring some back and don't be half-assed about it.

Yes, I'm quoting my own post.

Dan, I wanted to be clear, I am not talking about bringing back the Saltine Warrior. That is a non-starter.

I'm talking about getting the crowd to do a cheer other than "Let's Go Orange".

We have gigantic flags with "C", "U", "S", and "E" on them...perhaps using them is a start?

We have a nickname, "CUSE", that sounds good when a bunch of people yell it. Makes an "OOOOOO" sound that carries and everything. We should look into chanting it.

:)

Develop a really informative and useful location-based mobile app for fans attending the Dome. If you had iBeacons set up in the Dome (cost is not much), you could push out all sorts of info in real time -- e.g. info on the latest scores, the shortest lines for food, the chance to meet former players, the best traffic routes home, best lots for post-game tailgating and info on what's happening on the field (injury reports or stats).

A good location-based app would afford an opportunity for someone from SU or the Dome to meet long-time season ticketholder or "high roller" fans when they enter. Maybe you meet someone who has been coming to games since the 1980s and give them a signed jersey when they walk in the door.

You can monetize a lot of this by doing push advertising from local businesses and the university (e.g. 10% off a jersey at the bookstore if SU wins). Or, maybe you turn the app over to the entrepreneurial program at SU and see what they can come up with.

We are where we are on the field but the fan experience itself is changing rapidly right now and there is no reason that SU can not be at the forefront of it. Apologies if this is all being done. Great question by the way. Very solid job reaching out.
Great Ideas

I'd say push additional instant replays through the app on demand also.

Thanks for your hard work and thick skin, Dave. We appreciate all your efforts to improve the gameday experience. But many of those food and beverage upgrades need to be more throughout the Dome, and not just for the best sections.

I will say, what has to be one of the best beer spots is right outside the cheap seats. Upper deck end zone, band side of the field. Nice selection there for a sporting event.

To expand on my post earlier DRBartlett this could be an option for orange and blue bleacher seat covers... IT CAN BE DONE! How awesome would this be, either all orange or alternating orange and blue.

I've been saying this for years on here if the place looks full people will want to be there! ORANGE BLue white gray black in that volume order on the bleachers and all the concrete upper deck risers. This pic of the Superdome has maybe 25-15% capacity for each section. You still have to look twice to see the empty spaces.

Honestly, even when we have a big crowd it appears much smaller due to the walls. Wouldn't even need to make the crowd look bigger as much as make it look as big as it is to match the level of noise. Could help give the guys a home team advantage as well with a more impossing looking crowd.
So a graphic on the back walls of the upper and lower bowl that looks 3 dimensional to make it look like there are 15000 extra seats behind the standard sections?? YES PLEASE

So many good ideas in this thread...let me add plenty the list...
4. The ticket prices need to be reduced...as some people have said. Fresh out of college (luckily employed in the education field) but I think ticket prices are still too high.

This I think is of particular interest. I think we should have a Recent Graduates section that is Upper deck GA and gets reduced prices for the first 5 years after graduation from ANY university scan a copy of your diploma. Price is cheaper for SU Grads. Prices slowly increase after year 2 until year 5 they are a little ways below regular season ticket prices. Transitions people from poor graduate not affording to go to the game into Long term young season ticket holders who start paying full price to keep the tradition of game attendance going in year 6.

if SU grads want to go to games but can't afford food stamp seats, we have much bigger problems than just dome attendance
