any meaningful minutes down the stretch of games the rest of the year.

So much for that.

Nah, I knew he would go back to him. Its a cycle. we are 27 ames in and have seen the rotation bounce back and forth. Its going to be who he feels gives us the best chance to win in the end. Scoop was way off yesterday, you could see it. He just isnt quick enough to beat these guards off the dribble. Glad he had BT and Dion out there.

It's a coaches feel. The 3 guards are too close to call and to just make a standard statement/decision. In MSG Triche/Waiters finished and everyone thought that it would stay like that and Scoop wouldn't see the end of close games. Triche/Scoop finished the Florida game. Whatever works. I only get stressed when the 2 in there are playing like ass and a change isn't made. That was the case in the GTown game. But even post game JB went as far as he has ever gone in kind of admitting maybe he should have done something differently.

It just shows you how really lucky we are to have 3 guards, with experience to be able to pick and choose like this.

This is exactly why we shouldn't see another "...I can't believe that XXX guard wasn't playing at the end of the game..." thread for the rest of the season.

There have been games where Scoop was the guy on the bench. There have been games where Triche has been the guy on the bench. And there have been games where Dion was the guy on the bench.

It's all situational, and it isn't a slight on any of the players. Having three great backcourt players like this is a tremendous luxury--and finding minutes for them is a great "problem" to have.

Dion is gonna be in the game in crunch time every time. JB likes calling clear outs for him in crunch time, whether its at the end of the half or the end of the game. He made the 1 at the end of the half last nite, and got 2 good looks late in regulation that ill take my chances with most times. Its gonna come down to triche or scoop. Was very happy to see triche last nite, after the gtown game i thought jb was gonna be stubborn with scoop and stick with the senior who he trusts more whether its good scoop or bad scoop. Bad scoop almost cost us the gtown game, and i doubt we come back from 5 down last nite with bad scoop.

I, for one, am glad Triche was in at the end. He wanted the ball and he delivered.

If it comes down to it, Triche is a much better FT shooter than either Scoop or Dion. And he has shown that he has ice in his veins in critical situations (which speaks to the thread about his display of emotion during games, which he has learned to harness).

Dion will be there come tourney time... He is the best defender at the top of the zone and is a one-on-one nightmare... Every other night will come down to Triche and Scoop... But for some reason i think JB will go with scoop all things being equal... Scoop was 0-8 last night so it was a no-brainer... But when push comes to shove in a elimination game I think Scoop and Dion will be the pair..

It was great to see that JB is still allowing for some change. It had been a bit of a bummer to me to see the depth shrink. At least now the BT substitution is brought back to a game flow decision.

BMK is now the old school foul protector filler at this stage as Fab has distanced himself. It's not necessarily a bad thing because it is because Fab has improved and made himself more valuable. But aside from the times when he puts BMK in and presses the other team, it feels to me like you just want to steal some minutes now until the team can get back to full strength.

JS is still looking to be a filler type role for KJo, especially since his 3 ptr is MIA. There is some hope that maybe he can get hot again, he does have good looking form.

I don't think anyone expects Rak to be more than a token start from here on out. Especially since CJ is cementing his role. I hope JB keeps giving Rak the token start though. Keep him involved. Try and get Fab like improvement over the summer.

I hope JB can find minutes for MCW. I hope to see MCW starting Sunday. It's nice to see the future develop.

Exactly. Yet there are still threads wondering why MCW isn't playing in these street brawl conference games, and worse, threads second-guessing the Cooney redshirt. Unbelievable.

Amen.

We shouldn't but what are the odds?
And, if we lose a game, no second-guessing and saying that guard XYZ played "like ass"?

So far, JB has had a good sense -- or maybe the guards are close enough that it just works out.

JB said he hopes Southerland gets his shot back because he'll be a weapon in March. He'll keep getting PT.

The only game that I was really going What with ws the Gtown game because it seemed Scoop was really bad down the stretch although he did come through in the end.

LOL. Hey, that's one of my favorite sayings. It only means someone didn't play well, which Dion and Scoop, especially Scoop, didn't in the 2nd half of the GTown game. Even JB "kinda" agrees and "kinda" second guessed himself.

I could tell it was a favorite . . . Are there other questionable choices you have made?
For that GTown game, JB explained why he wanted Scoop down the stretch, then allowed that (with hindsight) someone might second guess Dion vs BT. Because in that game, Dion didn't get it done at the end of the game (although JB thinks Dion is always ready to explode).
Which makes it more interesting that he went with Dion & BT the next time out.

I wonder if folks who favor BT over Dion & Scoop (or one or the other, depending on the weather) tend to be conservatives rather than risk-takers?

Dion has sat several times at in the game due to his poor play.
