Fran has always stated he wants to be a physical, hard hitting football team. We bang in pads in practice throughout the season trying to implement this. My question is what do we do in practice? This is the least physical football team we've seen. Absolutely awful tackling team that takes terrible angles. They go up a tuddy, Castellano's is out of the game, all the momentum in the world, and they proceed to slam it down our throats. 198 and 139 yards individually for 2 separate running backs. Inexcusable. Yet on the other side of the ball we're wasting the most talent QB since McNabb with the abundance of riches at WR(How's that for a change). I'd say Allen is hit at the LOS on 75% of his runs. It's the complete opposite of defense where we're getting gashed by opposing RB's, Lequint is mostly bottled up and if not for straight will power would be a lot worse. We seem to have an identity problem. Instead of the physical team Fran want's to be we are soft as a feather and a very finesse team. Our entire back 5 is bad to below average at best. To try something different in the 2nd half why not move Barron back to the STAR position and bring Fadil or even Sparrow at LB with Wax. McDonald has seemingly regressed, but how don't we get more beef on the field? I don't know if I didn't see something but idk what adjustments we tried to make.

The identity is McCord and our wide receivers keep us in games and sometimes pull it off. Pretty grim to build on for next year

Yup building your entire identity on one player that will not be here next year is not the best for previous years unless we can keep the donor spending big money to bring in McCord like QB every year.

We can become transfer QB U

We have a first time head coach and a first time DC. It shows. Also, don’t fool yourselves into thinking because we went to a bowl last year that the roster was decent. It wasn’t. We needed an overhaul and one class won’t do it. It is definitely frustrating, BC could not throw the freaking football, both Castellanos and the backup. The poor tackling is going to put us all in an early grave

Yep we are going to have to find our Kurtis Rourke. A high profile guy like McCord will be difficult to get without having the relationship that the Brown’s and the McCord’s have. A G5 stud is our best hope. Lots to do in the portal at multiple positions

We are certainly not the team Fran wanted and not the team many thought we would be. Granted our SOS turned out to be a great deal tougher than we thought but except for Pitt we have lost to weaker teams.

Instead of 6-3 we could easily be 8-1 or 3-6. The difference is probably split evenly between ST and OL.

We will never be better than a 6-8 win team without much better line play on both sides of the ball. Fran needs to fix this or he will suffer the same fate as SS and DB.
Time will tell.

Amen, and unfortunately, the trenches are the toughest to fix, but no excuse for the OL in particular being so bad

On the topic of offensive and defensive lines is this talent or coaching will be the biggest question. Hard to put down the defensive line when we are playing only 3 down linemen and just getting pushed all over. 3 down linemen on defense is a problem if you are not going to blitz constantly. With White and his 3 down linemen, we brought pressure. Here we sit back in a zone behind them and that is never ever going to work here.

Purdue warned us about out OL coach and it looks like they were correct.

We won't see the true idenity of what our teams will look under Brown until he has a few of his classes in and playing
Our roster was TERRIBLE at the end of last year, what he was able to put together has been great.
We have ALOT of areas to clean up or sure.

Point taken but I would say good but not great. Linemen, linemen, linemen.

This has nothing to do with DART.

But unfortunately, the same problems plague this year's team that have traditionally been areas of weakness.

Our offensive line stinks, and we can't stop the run.

We can almost overcome it, because we have an exceptional QB, an exceptional running back, and several extremely talented wide receivers. But those two basic limitations hold us back, the same way they always do.

There's also an elephant in the living room, namely that are defensive coordinators sucks. He might be a brilliant recruiter, but he is completely overmatched as a defensive coordinator.

I don't think anyone would be silly enough to think last year's team was anything but ehhh. I'd rather make a bowl game then not, but 6-6 is really no achievement.

It's won us a few games, so yes it has meaning
Maybe it did, I just see week after week of poor tackling and questionable angles and have to wonder if there is accountability, why does this keep happening
