None of these three will be the next HC. Patricia will stay at NFL, Coach O has bigger issues (legal), Tony White we did this experiment with Shafer.

My first few phone calls would be: Dave Clawson, Jamey Chadwell, Joe Moorhead, Jeff Monken, Justin Outten in no specific order. Justin would get the alumni call - would be interesting to see the Packers offense in the Dome. Of all of those - Chadwell would fit what we have now the best and his offense is fun to watch.
Clawson would never ever take the job, and we aren't a school to toss money around to entice someone like him. Chadwell would be fantastic but I bet he gets much better offers. Moorhead is the best fit and I don't think is completely out of reach

Moorhead also familiar with GS. No matter who they hired they should be required to keep white and the defense and Schmidt. Vtech did the same thing with Fuentes and the D coordinator when he was hired.

i think now his chances of coming back are about 95% without a complete crash and burn. going from no chance to win to being really competitive is a big deal to many
We'll see if this trend continues. Frankly, we've seen this movie so many times before over the last two decades that it is hard to buy. If it does, then the record won't matter. If not, probably still won't matter.

don't see a change unless we go 0 for 6 to close this year out.
It just seems like getting anyone to coach football at SU is REALLY tough.
The pool of quality people, qualified people...it's just NOT that deep. We're stuck with Dino
and he's stuck with us.. But could it be the "fix" could be simple as hitting the portal
for an edge rusher and a big time WR?

The reality is true improvement isn't going to be measured by our W-L record over the next six games alone. Sure, most casual fans and some emotional supporters of the program will get caught up in the record, but there are many ways to measure improvement, progress or growth within a football program beyond the simple W-L record.

Cuse will likely be an underdog in the eyes of the "experts" against each of our remaining opponents just as we were in the games against Ohio, Liberty, FSU and #16 Wake. We won two of those games and covered the spread (beat the "experts"), in all four. The two games we lost went down the last play of the game. How many of you "fans" stayed until the end of each game, and how many of you were raking leaves or went to Octoberfest instead? Never mind, don't answer that.

This team is growing each week, learning to fight and learning to compete. Sure there's room for improvement, so let's continue to improve. We are banged up and we are going to get banged up more along the way. ACC football is competitive. If we continue to play with heart, if young guys continue to step up when called on, and there are signs of improvement along the way, then this program is headed in the right direction.

Clemson is the real deal. They are athletic, big and physical. Their QB is bigger than almost everyone on our defense. He has a cannon for an arm and can run (scary sight). Their top six WR's are all 6'3" or 6'4". Gauge your expectations wisely. With that said, I hope we punch them right in the face and come away with the upset win.

I still believe a bowl game is possible and will hold out hope until that sixth win is mathematically impossible.

Get on board or get out of the way. There's way too much negativity on this board. It's not healthy.

I enjoy the positive take. Some things have changed since then, but NO WAY am I missing this one. Pretty sure we are better than this 4-8 team:

So everyone has to agree with you or shut up?

I hear you, but demands like this will lessen the quality of pool. VT is not a great example. That DC was Bud Foster...long considered one of great DC's in college football. Foster was unique situation.

What quality coach would say "Sure, no problem!. Anyone you want me to keep" to this demand. None. If anything they would be telling Wildhack how much they expect in salaries for new assistants...their hand picked assistants...in case they decide to take job. Any coach worth his salt taking over a consistent losing program is not going to accept demands about taking prior staff assistants. No chance

You and I both don't know that. I know it doesn't mean much, but turn to 10:35 on the video. You never know unless you ask. Hopefully, Dino wins a few ACC games and we never know.

Should definitely look into little known Spartans coach Grogg Rebinson

I had no idea he was from Western NY!

This was the logical next step, more so than the actual record this year.

This x 1000. If you want to whittle your candidate pool down to someone that is just desperate for the job you tell them who needs to remain from the previous staff. Not one coach that is going to potentially right the ship is going to agree to have any element of their staff appointed for them.

Let me respond....
I do NOT want to see Babers fired.
I don't want to go through another "rebuild" phase.
That's why I said maybe our shortcomings can be addressed via the portal.

But if you want to talk reality...
1) I see a coach with serious deficiencies in game/clock management...he needs help and I'm not convinced he realizes this.
2) Our last 3 recruiting classes go 57//57/60...and right now we're in the upper 60s- how have recent and current recruits measure our improvement?
3) IS 3 years long enough to measure improvement? We are beat up. If we go 1-5, finish 4-8, Cuse will be10-25 for the last 3 seasons.
I hope these trends can be fixed and TRULY improved.
I don't want Babers fired and the program start from scratch.
But I do want to see a team being more than just competitive. I want to see a team that KNOWS how to win and a dome that's more than half full.

I'm at the same place. Keeping Dino to retain the recruiting is foolish. Keeping Dino b/c we can't afford a buyout is equally foolish. Keeping Dino b/c we believe in him and think it's close in terms of sustainable success, i can get behind that.

However, the next two months he needs to win some ACC games (in a very watered down ACC this year). Everyone keeps referencing the Sack Mac 1986 season. That season they beat Missouri, Pitt, and West Virginia (at WVU). It wasn't a great season but they beat big programs.

I think if Dino can get it to 5-6 wins there's a case to retain him b/c that's winning 2 ACC games minimum. I would be somewhat disappointed but I can see JW not making a coaching change if this happens. Anything less than 2 ACC wins I think the school has to decide what trajectory the program is on (esp with two dynamic playmakers on offense)

Might not be a good experience (or maybe it's nothing):

However, on January 3, 2020, Moorhead was fired after finishing 6–7 following a 38–28 loss to Louisville in the Music City Bowl. Besides the Bulldogs' lackluster performance in that game, athletic director John Cohen and other school officials were angered when they learned quarterback Garrett Shrader had suffered an eye injury during a fight in practice. Shrader had missed the game with what Moorhead initially described as an "upper body injury."[14][

On the contrary, If Dino doesn't win a few ACC games this year and is retained, he and the staff will find it impossible to recruit as a lame-duck. We're already starting to see that this year.
