If I Had to Pick One Key for Us to Win.....

it would be Roberson continuing to pound glass & getting double digit boards.

There are so many! I will go with Cooney successfully making 3s and driving to the basket. If Cooney is playing well it's a much better team on both ends.

I'll go with "not sucking". :D

But yes - plugged-in Robey with a double-double would bode VERY well for our chances.

We can't afford more than one of: G, Cooney, Mali, Rico, or Robey to be "off".
Whatever good plays we get from DC and Frankie Say Relax is net-positive.

But - we need at least 3, and ideally 4 or 5 of our horses to have a solid game.
OR - at least 1 of them has to go off, if 2 of the others struggle.

Lydon and Coleman underneath not getting dominated I think is the key. They can absolutely beat us inside, if we give too much help underneath from the wings and leave open shooters we could be in trouble. Lydon and Coleman have to be on their A game defensively.

I think one key is G, TC, and Malachi driving to the hoop early and often. The more opportunities we give Sabonis to commit a foul, the better chance we'll have at the end. Better we get him in foul trouble than him getting DC, TL, or TR in foul trouble.

Several important factors:

-Cooney hitting 3 or more from deep
-Winning the turnover battle
-Free throws
-Staying out of foul trouble

That said, I agree with the OP, when Roberson posts double-digit boards, good things happen for this team. Of all the different things to watch, that's #1 for me.

If Cooney is the first option on offense, we are in trouble. He needs to be the 3rd or 4th option after G, Mal and Lydon and even getting the ball inside to Trevor of DC.

If the rest of the offense is working, he'll get good, open shots. If it isn't, and TC has to carry the load ... We've seen that before many times and it very frequently doesn't work out well.

My fear is that TC thinks he's GMac. He isn't.

Not really the time for the last remark. TC has played great in the last two games.

He's been good.

But he has been in a supplemental role. Not as the star of the show. The less pressure on him, the better he is.

Except for those three drives to the basket in the 1H against MTSU

avoid the dumb fouls.. no moving picks, nor charges. save the fouls for stopping points.

When he plays well we do so much better. When he's on he plays better defense too.

I think one key will be the bigs foul situation. I think Sab can put a lot of pressure on both our bigs - chew up almost 10 fouls himself. We have had situations like that before.

I think/hope JB's strategy will be to attack and pressure Sab while he is on defense. Drive the guards early and often, maybe a couple dump off down to DC2 and see how they respond.

Two semi-quick fouls on Sab and the complexion of the game totally changes.

Our guards have to beat their guards, and we have to contain their big men.

It may come down to a lot of things, but one big factor will be free throws. Who gets to the line, and who makes them.

Has he been saying that as often this year? lol

they took him off the air (years too late) but you know wherever he is, he's saying it and he has that stupid highlighter
