If I were the AD

"Came out flat" = "Scoring 14 points in the first two minutes" apparently.
Their defense was unprepared for the option. I think it was their MLB who was always out of position. Our guys were charged up band Bullough called a good game in the second half. Even Julian made some good plays.

Clemson doesn't normally turn the ball over three times nor have xas many penalties. I think our defense had a lot to dobwuth those things.

I think their staff didn't prepare as well as ours did this time.

If we win at least 1 more game...2 so much the better.

Talk to Scott on Sunday after BC and say I'll extend you a year...you have to make a change or two or three among your coaches and support staff. Oh and Scott needs some extra $$ for better assistants.
here's what should happen. Today was impressive, well after the first minute or two.

Win one of the next two game certainly, or both games competetive to the last snap and you "extend" him. In writing at least for recruiting reasons mostly. BUT you require a sit down tutorial with him as an AD as go over the egregious mental errors of game mismanagment as a requirement to stay. Even today in the second half the way they're breaking runs left and right, on second down run a GD play and see what happens instead of giving up to the half.

Mental stuff is where he needs help. help him. Extend him. I won't complain if it happens. Did I say today was impressive. I was there at the 50. Clemson was not flat, we flat out played toe to toe. Impressive effort. Mahoney has a little Flutie in him, they were ready to put Womack in but Zach's performance wouldn't allow it. Will be fun to see the rest of the year the next two games with him.

Yeah I agree. Our lines where pushing them around today. Very impressive. Hopefully this means the young guys are starting to click. Steven had a great day.

Was Eddie in the AD's box?

Tickets, attendance, fan-base buzz, shouldn't factor into this decision, period.

Does the change make the program better, you don't make a change to feed the beast of fan opinion, that's just stupid.

That's what started this whole mess.
What started "this whole mess" are the feelers that Coyle has put out, once that is out there the speculation naturally starts

Are we assuming Mahoney starts the next two games?

I really believe a lot of the feelers are over blown rumors that are being spun out of the bot list from when he was hired. Shafer does have allies on the bot and one is a pretty big booster.

So you made it to the game?

Ohhhh boy.

I'll bite.

So what started the mess?

Right. Bookend nationally televised disasters and undeniably horrible losses to Temple and Rutgirls-level teams. Auto crash results followed by a rushed catastrophic hire in GRob.

Let's not pretend that P did not need to go. And with that - oy - I helped takes us there on this thread.

I really don't think that is it. The feedback is not coming from fans, but from the marketplace. Now, that is not dispositive, but it is not a rumor.

Making a change to make the program better and making a change to feed the beast of fan opinion are not at odds.

Yes there's no way I can see him coming back this year. No way. Besides it would be pointless given how the seasons played out with no bowl chance. Plus Mahoney has showed he can not only play but at a high enough level to potentially win.

"There's a lot of sentiment in the town about, oh, we're so tired about Pasqualoni. She asks me, 'Well, what do you think?' " Gross said Wednesday night.

"I go, 'Well, my thought is he's in a bowl game. They tied for the conference championship. I'm sure they're going to compete. Whether they win or lose, sounds like, you know, they're moving in the right direction. There's something to work with.'

"Besides, it's late. You're in December. If you're going to do a football search, you have to do the search around Thanksgiving. Everything has to start by that time. It's like a rule of thumb. It's AD 101."

Gross described the feeling around Pasqualoni as "a lot of crescendo" toward making a change.

"I wasn't here, so I wasn't around it, but people were, you know, it's one of those be careful what you ask for situations," Gross said. "And Paul was a great coach, but I guess the bell curve had started going back down. It had peaked."

Gross cited inconsistent play, declining attendance and a prolonged absence from the national stage as reasons for the decision.

This has always been my point, not that P was let go, but that it was done for stupid reasons, on an impulse decisions, at a really bad time.

The issue has never been the Who, it's been the When, Why, and How.

So yeah that decision has been what's started this mess.

You need to genuinely learn something:

- It was not Gross' decision. He had to deal with the ramifications. And to be clear, I was there when it (awkwardly) went down.
- A posthumous article in the local paper is weak, weak "proof"
- Your argument isn't about P being let go...but for the reasons? Kinda...wha?

The decision was not impulse. It was the final final straw. Timing, as you agree, stunk and the hire to replace him stunk as bad.

But P. Needed. To. Go.

And if he used his wonderful football wisdom over 30 days to prepare for Georgia Tech, perhaps that situation would have unfolded better, and slightly later, for all.

Read the darn post. I gave credit to the staff for being better prepared than Clemsin and to Bullough for calling a good second half. What is your problem?

I... just, did... his performance didn't allow it?

He completed less than 40% of his passes.

I sincerely don't think SU fans have any idea what good offense looks like anymore.
I feel like people are trolling each other, but I know they're not.

OMG, you're kidding right. He had his team on the cusp and competitive throughout. Get an Fing clue.
