If I'm McDonald, I'm demanding my job back

Absolutely. I was down on McDonald but this is the worst thing I have seen in a long time. This is almost the same group that had 600 yards against Maryland. Was Hunt really that good?

Maryland had 3 starting LB's out and Hunt is a better runner than passer. No great mystery.

Even if his demotion was justified, there's no way he can see this and accept that moving forward with Lester is better than what he brought to the table.

Agree Lester running McDonald's system sucks more that McDonald running it.

It's been awful all year -- with both of them. But let's face it there is very little talent on the offensive side of the ball. But whose fault is that? We look like a bad MAC team.

We really need to change the offensive staffs IMO. Lester had a half-season as an interim to prove he deserves the job. Please raise your hand if you are confident Lester can get it done (regardless of which system he would run next year)

I would seriously start interviewing anybody willing to apply from a team with a top 30 offense. I would worry about the recruiting implications later. We have to find a system we can move the ball with short term while we build it up with the right players to strengthen is long term. Right now we sure as heck don't have that.

marrone a part of the lack of talent and the talent we have is young

Austin Wilson just threw the ball right into the hands of the defender….Help us please….help us please….can we find one kid that can play QB……Please?

I really don't know how you can say that? First, he was recruiting for a totally different scheme. Second, he had the foundation of a very good recruiting class the year he took off. Blame whoever you want, but to put it on Marrone is just flat out wrong.

the upper classes have less talent than the freshman except for a very few. I said a part not all his fault. Its not one persons fault, but your mistaken if Marrone doesn't take some blame for lack of talent especially offensively

This is basically his offensive line. The same offensive line that was the strength of his 2012 team. Trudo, Hickey, and Foy were major contributors to that line. Saying they have regressed would be an understatement. West, PTG, and AAM were other contributors.

The main problem is these guys aren't being put in situations to succeed, and haven't improved that much.

I swear it looks like every defense SU's offense plays rushes 7 guys and has at least 2 guys covering their receivers. Amazingly inept.

If I'm McDonald, I'm demanding my job back...at Arkansas. ;)

Again. This staff has no loyalty to play anyone, but the ones who give them the best chance to win. Maybe the freshmen will be better in 2 years, but they aren't now. Look at the scoring across the country and ask yourself why SU can't score points- it isn't a talent issue.

a lot of it is especially at skill positions. Other teams have playmakers where there covered but still make the play needed

So the coaches are risking their jobs and coaching careers to sit those kids on the bench, why exactly?

BC blitzed 2nd and 3rd downs...how many times did Lester have AJ throw on first down? It would have helped with the pressure and it looked like BC knew what each play was. 2 times a certain senior receiver went 2 yards short on a third down...coaching or player not being aware?

Why? He was horrible.

Lester was stuck with running McD's offense the last 6-7 games. He is installing his own system next year and it will not look like this. Hard/impossible to change the entire playbook midyear.

I realize the results have been worse, but I find it hard to believe it would've been any better with McD. And McD had Hunt, who was far more productive than Long, Kimble and Wilson.

I don't either...the offense looked lost under both.

Which is why we shouldn't expect keeping Lester changes a damn thing.

You may be right on that. 2nd and 2 and those outside runs by Gulley are maddening. Any offensive coach with a lick of sense should know not to call that play.

I'm just not buying that he hasn't transitioned things as much everybody says. We've seen some different stuff and we've seen some other things disappear completely. It's way more likely that he has approximated as much as he can what he wants to do. After the bye, we've seen no spark.

I may be wrong, but I don't think that what we see next season is really going to be all that different - at least, not different enough for us to be much better.

I wouldn't say I have zero confidence in Lester, but I would say he has shown me nothing that increases my confidence in him.

I see why people blame Marrone... every time I look at the depth at QB or lack there of last year and this year.

In hindsight, I have no idea why we made OC change. All I heard were excuses as to why we could not make wholesale changes. "Can't make mid-season changes, I like to run a 12 offense, yada yada." To me it looked like we handcuffed ourselves with a half baked idea to change the OC without a thought as to the changes we could actually implement.
