If this new offense can't convince 50K to show up for Clemson, I give up on the city of Syracuse

I think Clemson will have the biggest visitng crowd we've ever seen. They have a top 3 team in the hunt for a national title, and they are traveling to a new venue where tickets are easily attainable against a new conference foe. It's the perfect storm really.

Good--because that will be 40 buses worth of Clemson fans who are going to have an awfully long, disappointing ride home after we beat them in two weeks.

Let's Go Orange!!!
Post of the season ... So far.

You coming from Minny?

They won't touch Tennessee or PedSt.

We'll see first hand in 2 weeks. If it was Clemson's 5th time playing in the dome and it was late november I wouldn't feel the same. There is a novelty to playing for the first time at a venue especilly if you have the best team you've had in decades and perhaps ever. I'm expecting a lot of Clemson flags to be flying in sky top when I get there 3 hours prior to kickoff.

Agree, I think they'll be more like FSU in 2004. Enough to get into the upper deck on that side, and enough to be heard, but not overwhelming like the ones you mention (and ND in 2003).

Given the color they'll all wear, it won't be easy to estimate. Their lower section will look like an extension of our student section overflow on that other side of the band.

I think many of you will be surprised at how many Clemson fans will be at the game. The novelty of playing in this venue called the Dome. Absolute curiosity of playing in something other than a stadium. Then we are a new conference member giving them some where new to visit. Plus it's October these folks will drive north for miles to see the leaves change...but not to rake them.;)

Doesn't matter if people thought SU would lose the game against Clemson. We're 2-2 (pretty much) and the team is playing significantly better regardless of competition. There is zero reason not to come watch the first game in the ACC against a top 5 opponent. The perceived outcome shouldn't matter at all.

How dare you ask Syracuse fans to support Syracuse for better or for worse. Don't you know there are leaves to rake?

People said many times on here...have an exciting offense and people will come. Well?

Just an excuse, let's just face it... unless this team is top 15 or so it is what it is and that's the way it will always be.

You're just jealous you don't have leaves. And for the record, in 50 years I have never had 1 person tell me they weren't going to a game due to leave raking.

I know you're a long ways away, but tell me, which game will you be making the alumni trek to this year? Clemson?

I think he was being sarcastic

fwiw... there has been a potential big doner in attendance.

the guy's net worth is to be a few hundred million and a local high school grad that I played ball with.

In attendance of the last few games?

Agreed. Tennessee had people tailgating days before the game.

They were by far the loudest and most fanatic.

I've watched that game probably five time and it stings every time, but those Tennessee fans were many and very loud.

Football as religious experience definitely applied to them.

Raking leaves = I can't think of an excuse right now why I'm not going.

I'm thrilled about the offense as well but...oh you said doner, ok that makes more sense.

We didnt have an exciting offense Week 1 and 2 which were the tone setting games for coming home and playing two garbage teams. In fact, the offense was the complete opposite of exciting. Just because they looked exciting against friggin Wagner doesnt mean the casual fan is going to get all amped up for a noon Tulane game.

Excuse reason 2761. Team SU is playing sucks...can't get excited. Big name team comes in why go SU is going to get killed, so many excuses so little time.

I don't care who does or doesn't go, I seriously don't anymore. If I worry about crap that I have absolutely no impact on I'd be dead right now. I'm done worrying about the casual fan and hoping he/she will go to these games. I go, support the kids and staff and enjoy being there.

Question on attendance during the 90s. Were home games blacked out locally?
