Thank G*d Brown is from the Northeast. If SYR wins 8 or 9 games - he’ll be offered a ton of $$ to go to FSU/FL/Okie.

MAYBE we hold onto him. (Getting ahead of myself - long season left)
Coach Fran said at his opening presser he's not going anywhere else. I'd say for at least 3 years. Let those other schools drool.

If they start looking it means we have had a good to great season. Just hope HCFB stays they course and really commits to building up the program!
I have no first hand knowledge of the man at all, but from what have seen or heard from others who have met with him, I believe:
he is a man of his word;
that being a HFC at a northeastern school is his dream;
that helping young men, but especially young black men, and particularly those from Camden NJ, become leaders in their communities and great fathers and husbands in their homes is his mission;
that is not a man who can be seduced by more money;
his success here will allow him to use his people skills to bring our NIL into a top 20 situation (counting on new firms like Micron to be good partners with SU)
If SU and the community keep up their end of things, this will be his only college HC job.
( I would never begrudge him taking a shot at the NFL, but I don’t think that is what he wants.)

Marrone said this was his dream job too. Coaches say things.
It’s like dating your dream girl, then her family turns out to be a nightmare.
( For integrity sake, i assume that anyone with this take never divorced someone after vowing to be together until death did they part.

I wanted to make a thread like this but didn't want to get yelled at for being a doomer!

I imagine Fran would get offers if we go undefeated and win a championship. Would he get offers from a single solid 8-4 type season?

Money talks, bullshite runs a marathon.

I’ll take him at his word until he proves me wrong…the man said he’s got all the money he needs. He wants to win football games and championships more than chasing money into bad situations.

But holy geezus he’s won 2 football games and here we go again with this.

And Fran wants the players from the 6 state recruiting area to come here.
He wants young men to understand there is life after football. He also along with Felisha, and Red want their players to learn to give back to the community.

It was Marrone’s dream too and he was an alum.

If Fran does well enough, methinks we will how God will ”tell” him to take a flyer at another $chool.

If he does well enough, Wildhack needs to find the money to match an offer. Fran has to be worth an extra $4M a year in tickets and concessions alone (sellouts vs 2023 attendance).

Assuming he makes $3-4M, that gets him to ~$8M. Another $5M a year should match almost any offer he can get, and if he keeps us at the level that gets us into the B1G eventually, he's worth that and more - the gap in annual payouts is around $7M I think?

Syracuse fans. We want to win, but not too much, because our coach might leave for another CFB HC job.
Who is the last Syracuse FB coach to leave for another college job?
Whose the last SU head coach period to leave for another college HC job?
We think too little of SU.

Who is the last Syracuse FB coach to leave for another college job?

Sean Lewis left OC for Kent State HC Job.

You were right not to. It’s a complete and total doomer subject and if I were an administrator, I’d ban anyone who nauseatingly brings up this damn subject. LET IT GO!

Not to worry, my fellow Orange fans: RutgersAl to the rescue:

https://rutgers.forums.ro vals.com/threads/greg-schiano-would-be-a-strong-candidate-for-the-florida-job.281428/

(In "ro vals" you know what to do)

Florida fans think they’re getting Urban Meyer or Nick Saban. But if those types of candidates fall through, Greg Schiano would be very attractive to them. He’s making a decent salary at $6M a year, but they could afford to pay him $8M. They’d Give him a huge budget for his coaching staff. The Florida job would also carry risks for Schiano. He’d be expected to win right away, even though that team needs talent. Whereas at Rutgers, he could go 6-6 to 7-5 in perpetuity.

Of course, RutgersAl's compadres thing he has flipped his lid, but the a little humor is always good.
