In 2015

There will likely be a Ben Schwartzwalder statue outside the IPF.

There will be more orange in the football uniform.

The staff will be expected to win.
Don't care about the first 2, only care about the 3rd. And they should be "expected to win" every year.

Is this inside information or simply part of your wish list?

OrangePA,
Thanks for the heads up; IMO, on your third point ADDG needs football to win now or begin to consider a coaching switch. He knows that no matter what he has accomplished, during his tenure, he will be judged by the success of football, basketball & Lax. I personally like HCSS and his passion for orange football and hope that his new OC, Tim Lester, will be able to craft a decent offense that will couple with Chuck Bullough's tough/aggressive D to create enough wins for Orange Nation to continue Shafer's leadership ongoing, after the 2015 season.

Here is what I would like them to have, inside the IPF or wherever receuits parents visit (maybe they do): a Hall of Success. A replica of all SB and league championship rings won, busts of HOF players, etc., as well as off the field stuff for life after FB, whenever that happens. Show parents their kid can succeed by attending SU.

RMH: Anything coming from OrangePA is solid.
I know...I simply wasn't sure if this was from his "wish list" or maybe some insider information. It's all good.

I really thought this was going to be a parody on the late night show with Conan O'brien ("In the Year 2000!!!!") but was disappointed but I like the points you made.
That's exactly what I was thinking.

I think I saw something on twitter from maybe Syracuse.com about some of those items. They were interviewing Dr. Gross. I know he addressed the orange in the uni's and let me tell you I couldn't be happier. Now we can have threads about how ugly the uni's are and how we need to go back to McNabb era one's;)

Gross said in a Syracuse.com chat this week that there will be orange jerseys available next year.

"In regards to Orange, Orange is part of the new uniform design and an Orange jersey and Orange pant will be available for our team to use as they choose. The student-athletes themselves were involved in the designs and I know they are excited about the Orange as are recruits."

Nike should have plenty of Orange available since Miami is ending their contract.

For a good example of how to show off your post college success I highly recommend everyone checking out the tour of UNC's facilities. They do a great job of displaying this.

This is definitely an area where we could improve our facilities that brings a lot of meaning.

In regards to #1 I really wish they would put more of an emphasis on more current greats. We already have a ton of stuff displaying our past greats. We are getting up over 50 years now with a lot of those guys. I think we are overdoing it a bit with all the homage to distant players. If we want to impress future recruits we need to start showing off some of the guys that HS kids can relate to. It's not like we don't have recent great players. McNabb, Harrison, and Freeney would register with recruits.

Wonder if this is like when SU claimed the players picked the uniform combinations this year, which was another Giansante patented "fact of crap"

Why does the team get to be involved in the uniform selection. That just grates on me for some reason. Just let the university figure out what is our best look (i know what i think it is---1990s era style). Does Alabama and Penn have roundtables with their student athletes on what uniforms they wear weekly.

Gross just doesn't get it as Bees says it.

Thanks OPA and Merry Christmas sir.

the best programs in college football wear recognizable uniforms most weeks. oregon is the exception. we can't have facilities that look like the factories but the least we can do is fake it with shirts and pants. shirts and pants don't cost as much as IPFs last time i checked.

I agree completely.

Frankly, it's not their program - it's our program.

We invite them to have the privilege of playing for our program.

The players come and go, but the program and the brand remains - and the uniform is the essence of the brand.

I don't mind players having input or involvement in the process. I am not surprised that many of them like the new uniforms because they are new and flashy and gives them more free stuff.

What I don't like is admins passing the blame to students when the admins are the ones who let Nike come in and overhaul the uniforms, and to blame the lack of orange on other factors. There is no way I believe that Nike could get new orange uniforms for at least 3 other schools and not Syracuse.

Gross is great at accepting praise, but when something goes wrong he passes the buck without fail. It would be refreshing to hear him or one of his staff accept responsibility that they did something that didn't work.

No. This is wrong and at the core of the uni debate.

It's a shared thing. When a player wears our uni, putting his life/body/hard work (or blood, sweat, tears) on the line he's as much a part of the program as any of us, or the AD, or president, or rich alumni. Is it a privilege? Yes, absolutely. But - can you honestly argue that your money and time spent going to games or on a forum is the same as a four year commitment to live, eat, sleep football? It's an apples to oranges comparison.

If by "our program" you mean "the schools program" then your point is a whole lot more salient.

Finally, no one is arguing that the uni is a big part of the branding - and that it's important to both player and fan. I'm simply saying that it's okay to mortgage some of my say and opinions on uni's if it means the players buy in more, we get better recruits, and we stand out from the crowd (advertising). Watch Shafer's press conference on the new design. He basically says that it's not what he thinks looks good - but if it helps the team, he's all for it.

If I were designing the uni - it wouldn't look like it does now. But that's not the point.

This I agree with 100%.

And I don't think it's just about flashy free-stuff - I think fashion is lost on older people. I used to care what was new and popular - but now I'm going with comfort and class. Basically - there is a big gulf between the fashion of 18 year olds and adults 30+. Not to mention possible cultural differences.
