In-Game Atmosphere Discussion

Hiring someone from WWE or an SEC school isn't going to move the needle either. The fanbase just isn't into that stuff, they never have been even during the heyday of SU football/bball. Chants or songs are great on TV or for someone attending their first game but in reality they are meaningless or Va Tech would be Bama instead of being on their third coach in like 5 years.

This Fanbase cares about winning and solid on field play, full stop. Crowd interaction stuff is great for Triple A baseball and teams who make a once in a generation run ie the Wichita State example you gave above. The only thing that's going to increase the atmosphere at the Dome is on the field success.

While I agree with this, can we at least at minimum, have the marketing team pay attention to the game that is at hand and make sure what they are doing matches with whats happening in the game?

For example maybe you do Mr. Brightside at some point during the game. So what if its been used? People love screaming it at the top of their lungs.

I just want things to be slightly different every week, not the same the predictable thing week in and week out regardless of what is happening during the game.

This sums it up. The average SU football fan is your typical Syracuse person. We’re not the type of people who care about gimmicks or bells and whistles. We tend to forget how huge the student sections are at these SEC/Big Ten schools. That’s the target audience for stadium shenanigans.

Eh, having been to games at BC and Wake Forest, I don't think SU fans are the bottom, but I also could care less about manufacturing a chant.

The Red Sox and Yankees have more fan participation than SU football. That speaks to something very, very weird about the CNY fan base, IMHO.

Hell, I bet more than a few SU fans who are here harumphing that stuff get all giddy doing the "let's go Buffaloooo!" stuff on Sundays.

Really what people want is your classic drunk bar songs that everyone wants to sing at the top of their lungs.

Find one of those that really resonates with the crowd and we will have something.

Lets do Garth Brooks Friends in Low Places. I think that fits.

Others that could work...

Build me up buttercup
All the Small Things- Blink 182

Or a simple classic like "We Will Rock You" (This could be an AWESOME entrance before the run on)

No need to re-invent the wheel here.

As to the bolded... It's the entire fan base that does those "shenanigans" at SEC and B1G stadiums (and Big 12 and other ACC and formerly Pac-12 stadiums). That's kinda the point. Now, people tend to learn all the chants and cheers when they're students/younger, but they do them forever.

Whatever. I just have always felt that SU fans have always missed the thing that makes college fandom unique.

It doesn't have to be very elaborate. Just think how rev'd up the joint got when the Dome Ranger ran around the court.
