Your opinion is noted, thanks!Since when does efficiency= the best? There isn't a coach in the country who would take Dungey over Rosen.

It wasn't Shafer's plan, I bet. That's why he recruited Dungey. He said it was wide open in the spring but it would take a lot to unseat Hunt. If you are happy with Hunt, that door is never opened. You are still making assumptions on Allen. He never even challenged to be QB.U said "he had no QB going forward". That's not a fact.
Sounds like he had the same plan Shafer had going into this season Hunt or a true freshman.
%Josh Rosen and Tanner Magnum to name 2 off the top of my head.
Last year, perhaps, but Dungey is likely the best Frosh QB in the country. He's 1st in the ACC in efficiency and that is not chopped liver.
Not how I saw it sitting at the 2012 Pinstripe Bowl as our run game gashed WVU, seemed to me the culmination of a four year journey and a promising future. But again you have your opinion.I'm not bashing DM at all. I liked him. But all this revisionist history about where the program was and where it was headed is crazy. He saved it and broke the drought, but it didn't appear sustainable under him to me.
Dude you said Marrone had no QB going forward. He did!!! The same one Shafer had after last season !!!'It wasn't Shafer's plan, I bet. That's why he recruited Dungey. Not just mine. Read some articles about Rosen. I'm not going to make this some thing where I have to bash Dungey to prove my point. Just open your eyes.Your opinion is noted, thanks!
If we get lucky and get a young talented coach who has success he will leave for a better (higher paying) gig in a heartbeat. We need consistency and continuity. Shafer can give us that because he is devoted to the city of Syracuse.
My eyes are open. I was posting stats from this year. Just showing that Dungey has a better QB rating then them. Where did I say he was better? By all means keep assuming stuff. Not just mine. In fairness to Dungey, while Mangum is a true frosh, he's 2 or 3 years older than Dungey. Mangum and Jameis Winston were the two big QBs in that highschool classJosh Rosen and Tanner Magnum to name 2 off the top of my head.
Sometimes I read this forum and I think SU fans are totally fine with mediocrity. Screw that.I like Shafer. I think he's the perfect kind of person for SU. Handful of plays from being 5-2, team has a chance in every game. How often have we been able to say that in the last 10 years? Lots of young talent to get excited about, calculated risks taken, big plays. It'll all translate into wins soon enough.
I literally posted the rankings of efficiency for the freshman QB's in question. I watch plenty of college football and have for many of years. Clearly there is more to football that a QB with a high efficiency rating. I like to view explosiveness, efficiency, field position, finishing drives, and turnovers when determine how good a team will be. BUT what the hell do I know I don't watch college football outside of SU games. Thanks for the laugh I needed it.I have a feeling several posters here don't watch college football outside of SU games.
If efficiency rating was everything we would not have a 4 game losing streak, or be sucking so much on O in 2nd half.
Dungey is a nice player and a great surprise but yeah he won't be a freshman AA at qb.

Terrific?Hunt is...well Hunt. Not to bash him but he is not a high level QB. He is/was a terrific runner and a very mediocre/inconsistent passer. Zach Allen cannot be used to support either side of this argument and you know it. You are assuming facts not in evidence.
Our fanbase is afraid of our program being a stepping stone. We should let that chip go and just try to get the best coach we can have. SS is a fine man and loves SU but we are getting what we are paying for as a HC.Sometimes I read this forum and I think SU fans are totally fine with mediocrity. Screw that.
LOL backtracking. Your right I stated DUNGEY IS THE BEST IN THE NATION. Ohhhh wait I didn't at all. You are also doing a damn fine job of assuming. I'll go back to just watching my SU games since I know nothing. How do you know I'm talking about you? It's not like I quoted your post like you did with Whitey's and then backtracked and denied trying to make a point when called on it, like you did.
BTW I'm totally talking about your post and Alphas.

Our program is a stepping stone, on a good day. Unfortunately, I think we have the best coach we can get given the $ we are willing to pay. I go back to my original statement on this post- where are the W's where we out coached our opponent? Our talent is improved relative to the B.E. days but I'm not sure that's not a function of being in the ACC, where our classes don't compare well to our peers. Consistently we read "Next man up", "I trust the coaches". My question is, based on their performance so far, why?Our fanbase is afraid of our program being a stepping stone. SS is never going to out-coach teams. That is why we always say our margin for error is so slim. I think he is a good man but we are getting what we are paying for. A program that will beat MAC/FCS teams, beat lower P5 teams i.e. Wake, and then lose to peer programs and more talented programs. Our program is a stepping stone, on a good day. We bleeping had a bye week before the USF week and look at how the team performed in the first half of that game.
Keeping SS is basically saying we are waiting for SS's version of the DM 2012. I don't want to wait for 1 good year. I want a coach that can coach up a 4 win team to 6 wins or 5 wins into 7 etc.
We aren't going to be that under SS.
Didnt say he wouldnt entertain offers. We dont know what shafer would do but I would take my chances with a coach who have lived in this community since 2008 rather than a coach who just needs to show progress before getting offered a bigger job. I rather have Shafer leave after success than having to rebuild with another for 3 years and then watch him go leaving us to rebuild again.I hate this argument. If a young talented coach came and then got a better gig, it would be because he had success here. I'll take that! If Shafer was having 8, 9, 10 win seasons here, you really think he wouldn't entertain bigger offers? He's not an alum. I bet he'd leave for the Illini job just to be at a B10 midwest school. But no one's considering Shafer moving on because he hasn't had enough success to put himself in demand.

I dont want to keep a coach who will continue to lose. If he losses next year, adios but firing him this year is pre mature. If players can get better, dont you think coaches can? Do you think the great coaches in the game now got better and learn from previous mistakes ?SS is never going to out-coach teams. That is why we always say our margin for error is so slim. Serious question: Is there anything SS has done to give you an indication he is improving? I'm in total agreement that its possible to improve but I'm looking for a sign here, something to hang my hat on that says the program is going in the right direction. One more year is legit given the youth of our program but we need something to give us hope we are getting better, and not just treading water here.I dont want to keep a coach who will continue to lose.
