Yeah, but how good is FSU? I mean, we beat them.Didn't Wake just beat up on FSU? They're pretty solid.

Exactly he doesnt have the energy at this point to put into dealing with the Flynns and Waiters. But those guys can get you wins.I think there's a difference between divas and edge. I didn't consider Flynn a diva, but he sure as hell played with a chip. Maybe I'm splitting hairs. But there wasn't a single kid on the floor last night who started playing with an "screw that" attitude once Miami started whomping us in the 2nd half.
Once upon a time JB was the best coach in the country at getting the best out of "problem" kids. Now he clearly doesn't want anyone who is a challenge at all. I guess that could work if we had a team of great players and largely nice guys -- the 2010 team comes to mind as being in that model. But without the former, the latter doesn't cut it.
Yes...w/ 2 caveats.
(1) Season just started, and still have chances to turn things around.
(2) When "turn things around" is equal to reaching .500, then absolutely...we're in deep isht.
Also, let it be said that what I'm witnessing this year has me well past the point of caring about the .500 record. This team is troubling in so many ways- from how it was constructed, to how they're being coached.
As others have mentioned, the signs were all there for a number of years now, and count me in as one of the "Suzie Sunshine" crew, for hanging on to the Sweet 16/Final 4 runs as Band-Aids, and willfully ignoring the impending rot that is now beginning to manifest.
I don't apologize for being a loyal fan, but I'm aware that eventually all truth comes to light. Truth is we're in serious trouble, this year, next year, and moving forward.
Hopefully it won't take a massive upheaval to right this ship. Bball is the crown jewel of SU Athletics- it has to be preserved.
I’m familiar. Maybe we are the absolute worst, I don’t know.I don’t think you’re familiar with the ACC this season and how mediocre it is across the board. Nobody is really good outside of Duke. Also, Wake could be a middle of the pack team or better. Their KenPom numbers are decent. I don’t see us beating Wake both times, but we’re also not going to lose ALL our other games besides BC and Pitt.
I haven't truly been nervous this late in the year ever before. To be direct, it is in jeopardy and I'd be surprised if we made it.
I applaud your fandom (seriously) for having the ability to be nervous about this.
I've hit my apathetic peak with this season. As Miami was coming back and their crowd was roaring last night, I thought man this would usually have me really fired up. I wasn't. At all. I think I was even laughing about it a little.
It's just not nearly as fun or interesting as it used to be. Watching feels like obligation. It's like my own little hostage crisis.
Agree with your thoughts. "Nervous" was not the right term at all, because I have the same feeling watching games. I still plan to watch them all, but there isn't that excited feeling that I usually have on game days,I applaud your fandom (seriously) for having the ability to be nervous about this.

Bingo. I felt completely detached watching the 2nd half last night. I was hoping we'd stop the bleeding and win, but also felt that if we didn't I wouldn't really care. We're not competing for a title, or even for the upper third of the conference. We're just... there. It's hard to whip up any excitement.I applaud your fandom (seriously) for having the ability to be nervous about this.

The other prevalent feeling I kept having was “it’s over” when we were down like 4 with 3 min left. It was weird. Like resigned to our fate.Agree with your thoughts. "Skeptical" that we will have an above 500 record is probably closer to what I was trying to convey.
They ran Buddy at the 3 for about 2 min. I think we scored 6 quick points and JB immediately switched back to startersWe aren't that bad and we have been in every game. That is the frustrating thing that this team could be very good. Even with the guys we have on the roster.
We haven't tried any options that involve Buddy and Jimmy in different roles but I am pretty sure have exhausted all other ones.
Last night would have been the one to play Torrence at PG and move Buddy to the 3. It was also the only game I thought Williams looked good and was a net positive and he went back to the bench as quick as possible.
DC played with a chip on his shoulder, and He was here 4 years.I think there's a difference between divas and edge. I didn't consider Flynn a diva, but he sure as hell played with a chip. No coach on Earth got more out of DC than Boeheim.DC played with a chip on his shoulder, and He was here 4 years.
Arguably he adopted this mindset right after Flynn and friends left school.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc?
That was around when I saw 5'11" Charlie Moore matched up on 6'9" Swider and Swider never posted up, never even attempted to go inside. And this is important...Moore did NOT switch onto Swider in a rotation. He matched up against him intentionally in an out of bounds situation and Swider ran away with his back to the inbounder. They chose to cover a 6'9" player with a 5'11" player and we let them.We aren't that bad and we have been in every game. That is the frustrating thing that this team could be very good. Even with the guys we have on the roster.

JB the hof coach isn’t the same guy this year. Even so he’s not a terrible coach now don’t forget that first half’s alone this year we’re close to being undefeated.Well ... Boehiem said he doesn't look at win loss records but if Jimmy and Buddy weren't on the team do you think he'd look at being 7-7. Just asking
Actually Chuck Daly had The New Jersey Nets on the path to being a great team.No coach on Earth got more out of DC than Boeheim.
Of course, DC would be the epitome of one-and-done today.
Yeah that was baffling. They ran Buddy at the 3 for about 2 min. I think we scored 6 quick points and JB immediately switched back to starters
PGA tour restarted today. Masters is only 3 months away.I think 12-18 (40%W/L) where they are headed. My only hope is the MLB labor issues will get resolved before Spring training starts.
Wake is improved and pretty good and Pitt beat us twice last season when we had a better team, I think it is possible we might having a losing record on the ACCWake will easily beat us Saturday. We’ll be lucky to split with Pitt. When you can’t stop people it’s hard to win.
Already have my opening day Mariners tix. Shiny new Cy Young winner in the rotation.PGA tour restarted today. Masters is only 3 months away.
