In Red’s slippery rock post game presser, he said that Chance just recently started practicing with the team.Has he been practicing at all? Someone should ask Red if Chance is participating in full contact practices.
And then the following week... and again... and again... until his eligibility is up. The plan is to get him drafted as a high round 1 draft pick on his mysterious unknown potential, and stories of great feats only seen and verified by a few during practice. This will be the turning point where we will suddenly become once again a true blue blood with recruits flocking to us and making commitments without a visit. All because of the Keyser Soze of college basketball.I bet they hold him out again tomorrow, with the next game not being until the following week.
I saw that too, but was wondering if that meant he practices with the team like participating in warm ups, shooting drills, sprinting etc...or actually in full contact 5 vs 5 games. In Red’s slippery rock post game presser, he said that Chance just recently started practicing with the team.
I get that the kid was a highly rated recruit, and that he has [or at least, "had"] exciting potential.
But after suffering two leg injuries in two consecutive seasons that completely derailed both years, only to have the "illness" undermine the start to his third season, causing him to miss both preseason games...
I think a "win" for Chance for this season would just be to get healthy, get back onto the practice court, and maybe get some game action. I don't think we could -- nor should -- expect him to be a significant contributor this year, based upon the setbacks.
I'm not suggesting that he'll NEVER be a contributor, or play at a high level, just that the odds seem stacked against him at this point. Who knows whether his athleticism will be the same after injuries to both legs, or whether he'll ever even see the floor in a meaningful capacity at SU. Hope he does, time will tell.
But I'm expecting zilch from him this year, until evidence shows that he isn't impaired anymore.

People were, unsurprisingly, really talking him up as a key producer. I'm ready to chalk him up on the list of most forgettable SU "players" ever (which is not fair because he actually has not played, and not his fault). I'm talking Mike Jones, Geno Thorpe, territory.I get that the kid was a highly rated recruit, and that he has [or at least, "had"] exciting potential.

Yeah Red said there's a difference between Chance being available and Chance being ready to play games (paraphrasing). They'll bring him along very slowly. Even if he's back, expect close to nothing this month.Fat chance. He’s out of shape.
I was really only being punny—I have no idea about his conditioning/physique. But, yeah, missing practice for that long has to affect your game shape. I hope he hasn’t had to be inactive and could keep off any additional weight that might exacerbate a knee problem.Yeah Red said there's a difference between Chance being available and Chance being ready to play games (paraphrasing).
