Jadyn Oh

Go back to Oh for the VT game. Pitt we really want to be going for any 4th and shorts lots of kickers struggle there.

We are getting into the red zone effortlessly and I like us to pick up most 4th downs we face.

He looks good enough on short ones that if he finishes the year OK its worth keeping him on scholarship and recruiting someone to compete with him.

I have a crazy notion he will win us a game before the end of the season with a walk-off field goal and we will nickname him Jaydn (Sadaharu) Oh after the Japanese home run king and slugger.

i just dont understand how bad the kicking game has gotten since Andre's freshman campaign. We play in a godamn dome for christ sakes. Should be kickers lining up to come here
I don’t think there are that many good kickers

at least in the small sample size OHs kicks have been solid even with the miss, vs low and off line half the time.
Denaburgs confidence is absolutely shattered... it's sad because he has a pro leg distance wise

He does a good job on kickoffs. Not an issue any more in the Pros with the new rule. But you see 50% of college kickers with deeper kickoffs. He doesn't have a pro leg on FGs

“A regulation football is inflated to 13.5 psi. Ideally, you want your kick to decrease the size of the ball by 1/3 which, by Boyle's Law, will increase the pressure by ~30%. That force is being exerted on the top side of the ball facing away from the kicker. You want an efficient energy transfer between the foot and the back side of the ball bladder. The laces and stripes are stitched on. This means that there are holes in the leather where they are attached. If the laces are out, the bladder can expand into these holes which means the volume of air increases, and the pressure decreases. Obviously, the effect is negligible, but it is interesting.” Science…….
Tell us something we don’t know.

In the world of kickers today (look at stanfords kicker) these kicks should be basically automatic from a certain distance. The fact that we are going for it on 4th down as opposed to attempting relatively easy kicks is mind boggling to me. Dont even get me started on how awful analytics are. Drives me bananas with this chit
I said in another thread, that I don’t believe we’re going for it on fourth and five or fourth and seven inside the 10 yard line because we don’t have faith in the field goal kicker, (We don’t have full faith, true) and we have more faith in Mccord.

I think we go for it because Fran wants the 7 points.

As evidence, if we were facing fourth and goal on the 6 yard line, and there is one second left on the clock, and we are down two points. Does ANYBODY think Fran doesn’t try the field goal VS a 6 yard play to win the game?

I think coach thought we could take control of the game with TDs. The issue had we gotten one we probably kick the rest.. Had we made the first kick we might also kick more. We didn't do either and thus were chasing pts all game. going from 10 to 13 is a marginal positive, going from 10 - 17 is a big positive.

He isn't wrong. And your not wrong. It is a judgement and coaching call, and all of this is hindsight. We have seen them perform before, and at the time and place the decision was made couldn't foresee the other bullshit and call either. So don't do that double analysis on kicking vs 4 down.
