JB defenders...a message to you...

Bury your head in the sand like everyone else. Stand for something or you'll fall for anything.

I stand behind Boeheim. That is standing for something is it not?

im with iommi on this, maybe not as strongly, but enough is enough. maybe jb's time has passed.

This is what hurts the most. Adding this chapter to the book from this year makes me reconsider everything I have ever held dear about my beloved basketball team. Boeheim was the be all end all of Syracuse hoops and now I have to re-evaluate all things I have felt about this team since I was 5 years old. Kind of numb right now.

I have a feeling that if JB drank a case of beer, was pulled over and blew a .20, and admitted that he was driving drunk on the stand, people here would still defend him.

"Nobody was hurt, were they?"

"People drive drunk all across the country. What's the big deal?"

Gonna go home tonight and watch Blue Chips.

As I said, I respect your opinion. But I respect it more when you don't resort to platitudes. Personally, I don't think I'm burying my head. Up to today, I think I have a pretty good feeling for what has been happening up at the University. I'm willing to see how this is defined -- and we will find out in good time. But based on what I know, I don't believe your reaction/post is warranted. I think it's an overreaction based on emotion not facts. But that's just MY opinion. I'm sure you don't want me or others using something like a "chicken little" reference to your post.

I'm proud to take a moral high ground on this or any issue. I'm not perfect; never claim to be or act like I am. It's obvious the captain has lost control of the ship. I have plenty of friends who respect me so I'll have plenty of people to say hi to up here in my "ivory tower."

I guess having morals is a bad thing...

A different coach would have paid someone else to take Fab's exams for him.

Damn that JB for making the players take their own tests.

Oh, and Fab Melo: you are a loser and my least favorite player ever to wear the uniform. Go home to Brazil and I wish you zero success in your future endeavors.

Character counts.

Pot/kettle unless you know exactly what happened and you know that Fab is a bad person. Otherwise, it sounds like your character could use an upgrade.

Funny you should bring that up.

Ah, let's just say that that hasn't been entirely true. (Not talking about Fab's case.)

All4SU: I respect your opinion too. You're a great poster. My "head in the sand" post was not a response to you. It was a response to the poster who called my post "worst post ever."

Our heads are buried in the sand by regulations which totally leave us in the dark as to what the heck is going on. I'm perfectly willing to judge JB harshly if I have all the facts. We have bupkis on this issue.
Some do not need facts. They prefer a "clean" program. One where no one is ever suspended 'cause it might be embarrassing. One where no one is asked to leave, 'cause it might be embarrassing. One where no one is ever benched for lack of focus or effort. Seems these occurrences show more control than lack of it.

Funny you should bring that up.

So JB MADE people take tests for his players. This is what you are accusing, sir.

who should coach then??

because Hop is guilty by association and his arse should go to.

not to mention gmac and autry.

hop, gmac and autry are acutally more guilty, theyre likely in charge of this crap.

all gone.

goodbye.
Actually, I think that Z would be in charge of it.

isn't he the guy who broke the windshield wiper and turn signal indicator of a woman's car, while she was sitting in the passenger seat? Granted, I wasn't there, but that doesn't sound particularly nice.

dude... you and your accusations. stop posting here

Actually, I will and can judge #51 (I refuse to acknowledge him by name). He is a jerk. The guy has anger issues, for one. He's shown that on the court and off. He's selfish and immature. He's wasted his scholarship and his talent. Going to Chuck's every night pretty much covers everything I just said (minus the anger issue).

We don't win ten *****g games without James Arthur Boeheim this year.

No it doesn't. Is that (and being ineligible) enough for you to wish he lives an 'ed up life?

First, that's a failure in reasoning. "Boeheim doesn't make players take their own tests" does not mean the same thing as "Boeheim makes other people take players' tests."

Second, please, tread carefully when you know not of what you speak. Frankly, if you don't have inside information about Boeheim's athletes' academic adventures, it's not appropriate to contradict.

Must be pretty bad to elicit your bad wishes. I defer to your first-hand knowledge.

I love this board and respect the vast majority of people and their opinions. That being said, there are a number of very prominent posters on this board who get very up in arms if any criticism comes JB's way.

Enough is enough.

It's time for a change. The buck stops with one man. James Arthur Boeheim. I know we'll hear from the blind loyalists...things like, "How can Boeheim be expected to know EVERYTHING that is going on in his program?" I guess he can't. But there has been a trend of off-the-court bs for decades at Syracuse. I don't want to hear, "it happens at all programs." That's a cop out. There is one man who is the face of this "franchise." If we are willing to blast Calipari and Calhoun and everyone else for their transgressions: why is JB immune to that same criticism? This year we've become a poster child for what is wrong with big-time college sports programs. My apologies to class acts in our program like Kris Joseph, just to name one example of someone who seems to get what an honor and a privilege it is to be in his position.

I know what people will say: Jim Boeheim has meant so much to this school...to this community...he does tons of charity work. That is all well and good and those are things that should be applauded. But what about the other coin: seemingly every year it's one thing or another off the court. I am an alum and a fan and I'm sick of it. I'm frankly sick of being one of those apologists with my friends and family and random 'Cuse and JB bashers.

It's time for a change. JB needs to resign. I'm not even sure Mike Hopkins is the best replacement. He learned everything from JB...played for him and has been an assistant for a long time too. I think it's time to hand the reins over the someone from the outside and start fresh. I have no clue who that is but maybe someone like Shaka Smart, I don't know... or Brad Stevens...someone young and energetic. And someone who values values.

Oh, and Fab Melo: you are a loser and my least favorite player ever to wear the uniform. Go home to Brazil and I wish you zero success in your future endeavors.

Ridiculous.

For the most part issues off court have been what trip up college kids, athletes or not, not the "corruption" that is associated with big time college athletics.

There are athletes at all levels, scholarship or not, who struggle academically, who flunk out, drink too much, get in fights, and use drugs. That stuff happens in all programs at all levels.

huh? I never said that I wanted him to live an "'ed up life". He'll get paid handsome sums of money to goaltend, er, play basketball. He'll be just fine.

I just don't want him to further tarnish my school's reputation.

for me, it's a combination of everything. any one thing in isolation would be easy for me to shrug off.

at this point it's just "what can we do to stop the bleeding"
