Yes, I live within a 50 mile radius from a handful of D1 schools.

Okay, you don't see this stuff there? I just can't comprehend from my experience moving around that it isn't the same everywhere.

Hell, I went to Marist my freshman year before transferring and they had these kind of problems while I was there.

I attended one "clean" Big 10 program, and lived in Iowa City for a bit. I'm not going to talk about Illinois, because it's my alma mater, and I refuse to sully they're good name. :)

However, the Hawkeyes have had all sorts of problems that never hit the radar, for every Pierre Pierce (Piece of ) you would have an Adam Haluska (Nicest kid EVER). You're dealing with athletes, kid that to a certain extent have a lived a life without rules, and now you throw them upon them. It's shocking more of them don't fail, and they would if schools followed threw and took the moral high ground. These kids are always in trouble (exaggerating a bit obviously), and half of them should probably fail out of school. Hell, most kids that get into college now should be failed out, but the money keeps them in (that's a topic for a diff't day).

You would probably be thrilled if upstanding Tom Izzo was the next coach here, because he runs a super-clean program, but if any of the many rumors about that team over the years are true that program has had years that were worse than ours by a large margin. I'm sure somewhere here can back me up on this - I know we have a few midwesterners.

I mostly know stuff about the Big 10, but I doubt it differs anywhere. It is what is is - pretending you didn't know that before today is silly.

It will be the same when we replace JB, and it won't really matter who replaces him. Sorry. Unless you want to suck - like really, really, really suck. And I'm not talking sucking like Iowa, because they do the same .

Oh, and this all fall upons one big douchebag:

Bernie ing stupid azz perverted child molesting Fine. He brought the attention and now we're walking on eggshells. Pat Forde can **** a **** too.

The Circle of Bernie.

My Oh My... Personally I just found out about the ineligibility so I must confess that I am not as insightful at this point as all those calling for JB''s head. What I am reading, tho, seems to me to be an overreaction ... a significant one. Out of curiosity, tell me, 1) what is it you know about the ineligibility and 2) what is it you know about the the drug issue. Please share because, seriously, I need to be enlightened. From what I heard on the news is that the ineligibility is "likely" stemming from the earlier academic suspensions. No surprise there. Sad, but true. Some kids are not academically suited for college ... as it appears Fab was not as are many nonathletes. I don't disagree at all that JB likely knew that this was coming down ... He's the HC, how could he not. And I believe that iis why we have seen Rak play more at the 5. My question, relative to the academics: What did you expect JB to do? Take the exams and do the work for Fab? Responsibility always falls to the individual. (BTW I find the name calling at Fab and the "worse" wishes as being nothing more than the lowest of "moral" grounds). Fab will move on to the NBA, stop going to class, and SU's APR will suffer. But he obviously hated school from the get go ... but I do wish him well in the NBA.

But, let's stop with all this other stuff ... unless you are truly enlightened (as I said before and can lend more to this discussion than making it a diatribe).

Personally I can say this about both the drug and ineligibilty issues. I know nothing. What I simply say to those "outraged" posters ... "Where's the beef?"... Show me the facts and the information that you have relative to your presumptuous accusations and calling for the head of JB. All I ask is that you enlighten me.

Sorry, one more issue. There has been made a statement by one of the posters that Dion is not going to classes and will also drag down SU's APR. Where are these "facts" coming from? Please do not post accusations and innuendo without a full contigent of facts to support them. As far as I know, based on his eligibility, Dion is doing sufficiently well to continue playing.

The Circle of Bernie.
Seeing the words "circle" and "Bernie" in the same sentence makes me squeamish.

Ghost: I've seen some bad stuff at those other schools, of course I have. Again, I stand by my original post. We have become a laughing stock. It's not just this year's issues; it's a cumulative thing. The "body of work," to use the March Madness cliche. It indicates to me that the guy in charge is not doing a great job making sure players are doing things the right way. I'm sick of defending our players' bad behavior. That's it. I'm sick of reading about Syracuse hoops on the crawls of our favorite sports networks...and I'm not talking about the scoreboard.

Please. Tons of posters (including respected ones) say the guy has not gone to class in a long time.

I guess this would be a bad time to bring up that at Chuck's last weekend Fab almost got in a fight because he refused to wait in line for the bathroom, so then he just took a piss in the sink.

I hear you. But I think we're soo close to the program that it seems worse to us than it does to outsides - or would if Bernie Fine and his wife weren't insane.

90% of college basketball fans think UConn runs a clean program. Maybe 25% of us do, but we follow they're program pretty closely.

50% probably think Kentucky does.

100% probably thinks Iowa does.

We see posts about Brandon Reece being a dick, or Melo drinking every night, we're never (unless you live near a program) hear about Player A at Famous State getting picked up with weed and let go because he's on Famous State.

We're hyper-aware of our problems, and now we're hyper-aware that everyone else knows. I don't know, I always assume we (and everyone else) is going to have their Fab Melo's or Deshauan Williams, and just live with it, while trying to enjoy the Scoop's - guys that may have gone down the same path but didn't and became a credit to the school in the process. We've had a lot of those guys too.

This is exactly the kind of post I talked about in my original post..."What did you expect JB to do?" I expected he and his staff should monitor #51's work and make sure he's going to class and doing his work on time and complete. What's so hard to understand? We have a staff of education advisors. What were those people doing? I don't need to be "enlightened" to know the ball was dropped. JB is the coach. The buck stops with him.

I stand by my original post.

Wait... really? I thought he was a good guy. I didn't need any more anecdotes to display the guy is immature and has anger issues. Good riddance to him.

Good post...I'm really not trying to pile on here but I'd rather if you used Kris Joseph as a better example...although I guess your point is Scoop learned from his transgressions. If so, I agree with that. I will say that it's not been a few bad apples. It will not help to list all of the incidents and culprits but it's an arm's length list.

A question to the Jacobins: it seems to be getting clear that the University stepped in and declared Fab ineligible. We don't know how hard or even whether JB fought to keep him, but at the end of the day - the ship is still sailing with a captain in charge and discipline the word of the day.

if it turns out JB supported the decision, and the Orange follow this up with a run to the 2nd weekend or beyond, do you still think he should be fired?

Are the advisors supposed to babysit Fab while he's taking a final exam? Are they supposed to take the exam for him?

Fab is accountable for his failures, and no one else.

you were hanging out in the urinals?
I was the first person in line at the time and was actually trying to stop the kid behind me from yelling at him because Fab probably would have beat his face in. Kid was 5' nothing...

I will not get into a verbal sparring match with you at all. I am not sure tho that posters' count as factual information ... no offense to my many poster friends. The history of posts, beit Bernie or the previous academics of Fab, or the issues with Devo (I've been around a long time) or even recruits (please don't take exception Jake) I would not exactly classify or place in the facts column ... more opinion is flung here then facts. And that is OK b/c that is what forums are, to a degree, meant to be ... an outlet for a person's freedom of speech and opinion. All I ask is that people support those opinions with actual facts ... not heresay.

As I said, I can personally say nothing about the Fine situation; the drug issue; or Fab's ineligibility ... because I know nothing more than what is provided by factual outlets ... and even those I don't trust to provide unbiased facts.

100 and nothin', and you have barely a speck of athletic ability. And you hung in there with the best college football players in the land for 2 years. And you're gonna walk outta here with a degree from the University of Notre Dame. In this life, you don't have to prove nothin' to nobody but yourself. And after what you've gone through, if you haven't done that by now, it ain't gonna never happen. Now go on back
Sorry I had to. lol

No, they're not supposed to do that...I find it hard to believe they couldn't do enough or supervise him enough to keep him eligible In no way am I talking responsibility away from #51...he's a jackass. If this latest ineligibility issue is a new issue, than it's even worse. But shouldn't the team have rules? Should a guy like #51 be allowed to go be at Chuck's 24/7? I know he's an adult and is 21...but would a curfew been too much to ask considering all of his past issues? Make the guy accountable.

Not looking to get into a sparring match with you either...but Im baffled by your request for facts...where did you expect the "facts" to come from?

"The ship be sunk." Micheal Ray Richardson.

it is not a new issue, it is the same one Fab had in late January . . . so why weren't you calling for JB's head then?

Methinks it is just your personal disappointment at having your dream season squashed, and your suddenly discovered moral high horse is just a convenient masquerade . . .

Sorry ... I am confused. Why would someone be baffled by such a simple request as having the actual facts of each case in front of you to make an educated analysis and decision. I mean how can anyone actually say anything or develop any hypothesis without facts. Out there in poster world ... does anyone have the information and facts that we seek to clarify the situation. Please report. As I said before I would like to be enlightened. I'm sorry that I am being so pragmatic as to expect factual information.

No, that's not it. I've been telling people for the past few years I'm sick of all of these "incidents" with this program. I saw the original post about #51 being ineligible and then I said enough is enough. I'm certainly disappointed that this season will not end well, of course I am...but it's not a "convenient masquerade." It's what I honestly feel.

Its been an exhausting year, no question about that.

If it comes out that Fab wasn't doing his own work as was speculated by Jeff Goodman, and there are Minnesota style academic fraud issues laying in the weeds, then I'll certainly be right with you.
