JB on ESPN2 talking Red

This is why it’s time to move on from Jimmy. I think everyone knows and appreciates what he did for the program the school and the community. But he is the person most identified with Syracuse basketball and he is on national television saying the school doesn’t have enough money. Players and parents could be watching this stuff. Can’t imagine it’s good for recruiting or the portal.

Can someone from the communications school please tell him how to communicate!!
Part of his no show job should include giving no input or opinions of the current program to anyone…the school, the new HC, TV, reporters, etc

Unfiltered and not giving a ef if what he says is factual or how people take it is one of his hallmarks. You ain't changing the spots on the old dog.

Really tired of JB and the part of our fanbase laying this at the players feet. Top 20 classes both portal wise and freshman recruiting class, we easily had enough talent to be on the right side of the bubble this year. It was an epic fail by the amateur hour of a coaching staff we had, which hurts to say because they're likeable guys who many were w/Orange for a long time.
The only player on the team who was upper echelon ACC was Kingz. George was worse than the kid from Hofstra. Freeman was a fail, etc.

We should just ignore the Rev share because every school is going to do it. Jim isn't wrong we're bottom of the ACC when it comes to basketball NIL. That needs to change or we'll be having this same conversation in 3 years.

Boeheim said he believes Syracuse is one of the best college basketball jobs in the country. The program historically attracted fans to the JMA Wireless Dome, though attendance numbers have dipped. SU, he said, has tradition and prestige.

But Syracuse University, Boeheim said, needs to recognize how much college athletics has changed and how much NIL impacts the kind of rosters coaches can assemble.

“They have to get the NIL budget up. They have to do that if they want to win. That’s not revolutionary. That’s a fact,” Boeheim said. “They have to decide if they’re going to do that. And it rolls over into football, too. They need to get more money into NIL.”

Boeheim said he is not involved in the search process to find a new basketball coach. He said he will have no influence on who SU selects.

He wants SU to hire the best possible coach, he said.

Ive listened to JB discuss this topic in person. He thinks certain players had disappointing seasons but of course the big issue is funding. He feels Red never had a shot because Cuse doesn’t have enough money to build and keep a team.

Take that how you will. Its what HE says. But its less about attacking players and more about criticizing the program’s fundraising.
Jim has always been a very loyal man. It is a virtue not a fault. If SU really is bottom three in NIL I would be surprised. That being said I believe the players we have on the roster right now have enough talent to win. I would not be surprised if Coach Jack has minimal NIL but she manages to field a good, tourney bound, team. She gets alot out of the players. I do think JAB is right, paraphrasing him, that JJ and Donnie are better than they played overall. It will be an interesting off season. As always, Go Orange!

He had some brutal moments but I still think with the right guys around him, he could be real good. His good was real good...but, I agree, his bad was brutal
Nope. You couldn't depend on him doing the most important thing a pt guard does. Bring the ball up against pressure.

All year I heard we were top third of acc in NIL. Boeheim said on a show we were bottom 3 along with BC and GT. Obviously he’s doing his defend red routine, but also he would know about NIL and you cant really lie because it’s black and white numbers. Anyone have comment on this?

Agree to disagree. Guy had zero help all year handling the ball.

JB loves throwing players under the bus. It’s never the coaches fault.
It sounded like they gave him a job and an office but he did not really have to do anything.
Just a way to shut him up after they fired him.
Is JB wrong about Donnie and JJ? I don't think he is.
Don’t you get it? It’s cool and edgy to blame JAB for everything.

I think Red’s biggest weakness is talent evaluation. He has a strange way of looking at players abilities. Too many one dimensional type players.
Obviously he is not nearly as awful as Kenny Payne. But Autry pales terribly in most coaching areas compared even to Hubert Davis, who is a bad pick compared to Dook's Scheyer. Does Autry design first rate game plans? Have not seen it. Does he make good adjustments during games? Have not seen it. Do coaches and players of other teams seem to indicate that they fear Autry as a coach who can beat them? Have not seen it.

Has Autry shown that he can evaluate talent well ad then draw good talent to play for him? Not really, it seems to me.

He was a risky hire. He is another pampered former player. He needed to be pushed from the nest and be HC at a non-majors conferencce school to learn to be HC at a place with no major press coverage of his mistakes.

I’m not blaming him for EVERYTHING. Just the things he’s responsible for. Earlier this year he said “ a coach needs five years to install his program “. Then he said Red didn’t have enough NIL. Come on. No one is getting five years to turn things around. Not when you’re spending however many millions on 18 to 21ish year old kids.

Let’s get a new “face of the program” the media can run to every time they need a quote on anything involving the program.

The incredibly lame unforced TOs, by almost everyone, is what I'll most remember about this team. Just the really bad ones, including the last in regulation against Pitt, probably cost us 3-4 games this season.
I'll remember the prolonged periods of just looking lost. So many times we would start a game and look like we belonged then just fall apart for like 10 minutes and never recover.

So were we in the top half or the bottom three in the conference as it relates to nil? He said some very confusing statements?

There’s one year NIL and ongoing NIL expectations. Reading between the lines, it seems like there is low confidence SU can keep the NIL train rolling, which shouldn’t be shocking coming off an abysmal season with lots of uncertainty ahead.

That is adjusting. It is on the coach. JB was excellent at in game adjustments.
