JB on Orangenation right now.

I'm fairly certain that the team looked pretty lost with Starling on the floor instead of Moore against LeMoyne, Cornell, and Colgate. Neither is good at defense and both can score a few points. I don't think the difference between them is all that much - maybe a few points towards JJ, but that comes with him taking 15+ FGA and inefficient offense. JJ only just lost the team lead in FGA.
if youre going either/or...it doesnt really matter that much

but having 2 scorers is much better than having 1

Exactly this. We’re better off with both, so when Starling has an off game like Cornell, you have Moore to pick up the slack. (And Moore has struggled since that game.)

Truth hurts the bathers. I do think we misjudged the point guard situation. Really need Chris to be Chris to have a fighting chance. Hope JJ returns soon.
Since Carlos was originally brought in to backup Leffew, I would say it was more of a misfire than a misjudgment. With you on the rest.

Boeheim “saying things” on the radio to defend someone else coaching SU hoops is like a breaking of the 3rd wall (I think? I don’t really know. Whatever Deadpool is doing.) that I never knew I needed.

EDIT: I just saw that this followed a couple Day2 posts lol. I promise that wasn’t a dig on Deadpool.

I remember the day that I used to drink every last ounce of Syracuse basketball I could find... press conferences, weekly coach shows, articles, forums, etc. That has changed a lot. I found myself not watching all that many of the pressers during Boeheim's last couple of years, zero weekly coach shows, and very few articles because I don't see value in subscribing to the PS. With Red, I have watched one presser, and that was sort of painful. I still bleed orange and support Red, but I just can't get myself to do it nearly as much as before mainly because I feel like I'm being fed bull manure half the time.
Agree about the press conferences. I stopped watching those several years ago, unless someone commented on here about something particularly crazy that was said and I had to hear it myself.

Fourth wall. Not to be confused with fourth meal.

so far red hasnt been able to get multiple guys having good games at the same time very often

and its usually one guy doing everything and the others invisible

need more balance

i think having a PG that can score will unlock a lot of the offense...teams dont have to fear carlos AT ALL...and it makes it easy to scheme against

Lots of good points here but someone should point out that the only game that hasn't been close was against the #1 team in the nation on the road and that one would have been even at the half if we'd made our free throws.

There, I pointed it out.

I agree with Jim that I didn't expect Bell to still be in the tank, but depending on Bell to be one of your 2-3 best players is the root of that problem, which goes back to talent evaluation and roster management and NIL. I'm a little more sympathetic to cutting Red some slack for losing JJ, but even with him we were barely eking out wins against garbage teams, so that excuse only goes so far too.

He's also not going to criticize Red.

Something JB and Paulie didn't mention about why the SEC is so good is that a few years before NIL Sankey told its membership to start paying for quality coaches. Obviously the money for players can't be ignored, but setting Duke and UNC aside because they're special cases, I think the ACC has some decent coaches but not on par with the moves the SEC has made since 2016.

No, JB did not criticize Autry at all. And we knew he wouldn't. But . . . he never came anywhere close to saying the Autry is doing a good or great job coaching. (Except maybe something about it at the very end because he maybe thought he had to.) Contrast that to the very high praise he gave Fran Brown for the great job he did coaching this year. Makes the lack of comment about Autry's coaching even more missing. I also wonder why he went on there today. Was it to "explain" the situation Autry is in? Or, maybe it was to plug that he's doing the broadcast of the Duke-GaTech game on Saturday on ACCN, and ESPN "suggested" he do it.

JB hears the noise, it's an attempt to spin. He calls in if he doesn't like what he hears from callers like Pat and Vito.

He may not read the "internet" (i.e., SyracuseFan.com) but he said people tell him what's being said. Undoubtedly on this Board. Probably an attempt to counteract what's being said here, but it wasn't very strong.

Which means Wildhack probably knows too

It is not horse shoes or hand grenades. Close does not cut it.

Of course. This forum isn’t the end all be all narrative nor is it secret society. Go on Twitter/instagram/facebook and look at the “final” post comments after a loss… the chatter has been increasing and pitchforks are out

I look forward to every single game. I am passionate about it. Glad it is in my life. Expect it always will be.

This is why so many organizations in sports are always failing and others seem to always be successful. when there is dysfunction within and you only turn within for answers, there are none.

Paulie was having an ongoing argument with the posters on Orange Nation's forum, (to the right of the main image. JB owns part of the station and that's likely the 'reports' he was getting.

It's the difference between being competitive and winning. We are being competitive, which isn't enough. But we aren't getting blown out - yet.

Damage control. Signed a bad contract with a coach who doesnt appear to have the chops and now you're locked in. You need to make it seem like a short term issue to try and salvage ticket sales next year. Im not sure itll work.
