..JB s said that with Dion and Triche we are two aggressive scorers who are not passing the ball into the post...and he wants more stability. Will play those two sometimes together but believes Scoop although not as good as a scorer, brings more stability...guess I am looking at the last two games through Triche colored glasses...but Coach...you need to rethink your assessment!

It seems to me that the flow of the game offensively for 'Cuse is better with Dion and Triche...and the defense is better too...am not taking shot at Scoop, but I do not believe he is one of the best two guards on the team..and as shown previously on year stats and BE game stats...he is at best the 3rd best guard...and that does not include MCW who as a pg may be best we got.

Seems as if Waiters and Triche will not play that much together based on JBs view...what do you think?

JB is out of his mind. If you want a guy out there that makes more mistakes and isn't as good a defender then go with scoop. I agree the offensive flow is better with Triche and Waiters. I think that both are very good passers.

I guess Scoops 6 turnovers today provided stability

They played most of the first half together today when we were lighting up MU. And we've seen a lot of them together this season. I would take JB's comments with a grain of salt, especially if "Bad Scoop" starts showing up more regularly.

I'm surprised that Triche isn't on the court at the end only because of his free throw shooting. I honestly don't care otherwise.

When you talk about "looking at the last two games", you do realize that Scoop had a double-double against Providence, right? In addition, he had 11 assists vs only one turnover. You DO realize that, right? What the hell else do you want a point guard to do? In the same game, Brandon had 3 assists and 2 turnovers.

Yeah -- he's clueless. I mean, we need someone who understands this team and can get them to their full potential, and a #1 ranking. Jb blows.

Scoop also sucks. I hate his senior leadership.

Damn this team

agreed with scoop its tough though, he made two key passes into the post. with that said he also made a great deal of mistakes. at this point mcw is not strong enough against marquettes physical wings. its tough.. we won.. albeit ugly against a team who wanted it to be ugly... at the risk of fouling out they kept at it.

Scoop is not a reliable player. Never has been and ever will be. He has some good games but he makes some of the worst decisions I've seen for a senior leader That top of the key jumper one on four showed great leadership. Very heady smart player !

The guy is something like 30 wins short of 900. His team has ZERO losses this season. His team has been #1 in the country for roughly a month. He's obviously "out of his mind".

I think JB will switch players as he thinks will influence the game in the way he envisions. He's happy to have this team with so many options from which to choose. I'm happy if he's happy, even if my gameplan is different than JB's. We had several people step up at the end and have a bunch of willing contributors at crunch time, i.e. KJ, CJ, Dion, Brandon, & Scoop. Even Melo made a nice play on the alley-oop just before he fouled out. That was a nice pass by Dion but he forced the ball inside a few too many times earlier in the game. I admire the thought, but he needs to see the floor a bit better at times.

I actually didn't have a problem with that shot. we are a transition team and score in 2 seconds. Some times you push it up too fast and the shot is bad. But most (this season) have resulted in points.

You also can't put a value on his leadership in the locker room. That to me is much more valuable when you have so much talent, then a dumb a$$ pass or off games.

Dion is our closer and best player. Whatever combination works best with Dion being the focus is what I want. If that is Scoop, then sit BT. I don't care. It's not like he is sitting an All American and playing Scoop.

And if you go on talent alone, I would rate them

1. Waiters
2. Triche
2a. MCW
4. Scoop

Funny, when Scoop made that identical shot in the same situation against Villanova two years ago, everyone was celebrating what a heady player and ballsy scorer he was.

Sometimes players have bad games. It doesn't mean they're stupid, worthless, or deserving of a benching. Some of the more vocal posters on this board are ridiculous.

JB always has been loyal. And with guards, 3 times as loyal. Scoop will be getting his minutes, though it is a bit un-JB like to have Scoop in the 20 min range. Allen Griffin was the only previous guard that I remember that went down a notch in later years.

He's crazy! You'd think he would have learned a thing or two after 872 wins.

Allen griffin played almost the entire game his sr year.

He played a lot his soph year then became 6-7th man his jr year. That was unusual for a JB guard.

That's because he was playing behind Jason Hart his junior year. In his senior year, Griff literally played almost the entire game, averaged in double figures and had a great year handling the ball.

That's exactly right. Allen Griffin remains one of my all-time favorite players for this program because of his perseverance in the face of an incredibly difficult junior year, followed by his flat-out key performance as a senior. I have my favorites (including Hakim Warrick and some others), but Griff is right up near the top of Mt. Everest with this program.

Griffin was the only difference between a decent NCAA year in 2001 and the catastrophic meltdown NIT year of 2002.

For what it's worth, Boeheim only bumped him as a starter in 2000 because he knew the seniors would give them a legitimate Final Four chance and wanted the best defense at the top of the zone. Thus, the bigger Bland being encouraged to grow into a starting role while the guaranteed producer (Griffin) came off the bench. A bit like Triche over Scoop in 2010 or Christmas over Fair this year.

Absolutely!

And what's with this zone defense of his? Everybody knows that you can't win playing that way.
Sheeesh... TGD should get a real coach.

at this point mcw is not strong enough against marquettes physical wings.

You can't prove a negative. MCW has shown enough to deserve just as much of an opportunity to be out there, regardless of how bad Scoop played. Waiters and MCW are the best combo for beating that type of defense. It will kill this team in March if MCW is not groomed for more significant PT. And here we thought maybe an old dog just might learn a few new tricks.

I would love to know the thought process as to why MCW did not play. Is it something that JB sees that does not bode well against a cheap-shotting physical team? I often wondered before this year that sometimes JB gets so wrapped into the game that the subs are often an afterthought. This year changed my mind on that but made me think back, when I did not see MCW play. Personally I think he is a fantastic press-breaker. We don't see those "Scoop de Loop, Oops" lazy cross court passes from MCW.

I think Orangeyes answered this. Trying to milk the clock with a 4-6 pt lead, JB wanted his two best ball handlers on the floor.

"On another note, I ran into Brandon Triche's dad Melvin at halftime. I told him to tell Brandon to keep on firing away. He said, I wish his hand would heal, he is having so much trouble handling the ball."

This would really make me feel alot better in the sense that Triche isnt in for that reason and not because JB thinks Scoop is better than Triche in crunch time, because if there was ever anything you could question a HOF coach on, that would be it.
