jb riding the girard train

Playing the two next year isn’t going to improve his defense. Play man and make him accountable. It will allow our young guards to play more minutes. Joe is who he is. His defense in HS was flat out embarrassing. I’ve never seen anything like it. His HS coach was a joke with what he allowed Joe to do on defense. I don’t care how many points you score, how do you look his teammates in the face and ask them to guard people? I understand why JB is constantly on him. The most powerful tool a coach has his the seat next to him. JB needs to hold Joe accountable, but I’m not holding my breath.
Like he holds Buddy and Jimmy accountable for their efforts and successes on the D end.

We have very few guys on the team that are major D1 talents, hence the reason why we suck this year.
I guess the 9 teams syracuse beat in the ACC have less? Seems like syracuse is just about average in the ACC this year in every way. Surely SOME of these players must be D1 major level players

ACC is really... not good right now.

If Mintz comes in next season at PG who sits ... JGIII or Turner? Wasn't the recruiting pitch to Turner that he would replace Buddy at SG? In a normal situation they both get PT but we know Jb likes to play his starters 35 minutes.

Boeheim hasn’t promised minutes or starting spots to anyone recently…

Oh wait, there’s a reason.
Tell me the last person he ever said could be a starter the minute they arrived

This has happened plenty.

Easy example: Rakeem Christmas started 140 of 142 games during his career, including as a freshman on one of our best regular-season teams ever. He averaged 11.5 mpg that year. No way he starts over CJ Fair for any other reason that year.

You didn't answer my question. when did he ever promise an incoming player that they would start from day one?

This is not a new trend with JAB. He has tried to shoe-horn off-guards into the PG spot since Ennis left early (Silent G, Frank H etc). He also played a 195 pound European Marlboro Man at Center for damn near 40 MPG

He wanted the length at the top of the zone

There have been plenty. I answered your question fine.

He's supposed to recruit over a point guard that can't bring up the ball.
He did. The guy left because he wanted all of the minutes and didn’t want to follow the coaches directives.
Hard to recruit another PG when the one you relied on leaves after your Sweet 16 run.

You mean Justin Taylor? If so, I am sure every guy understands that they have to earn their starting spot. The slot is there, get out there in practice and earn it.

Jesse 5
Benny 4
Bunch 3
Mintz 2
Joe 1

When JB had good players on the bench, they play. Kadary averaged 21 minutes last year. (Braswell averaged 12.)
In 2002-2003 the 3 main bench guys minutes were Edelin (23), Pace(15), McNeil (19). The 3 stars were all well over 32 minutes. The point is, when the bench has good players, he finds time.
There are only 200 player minutes per game, unlike the NBA, which has 240 player minutes per game.
