ACC Tournament Hopes

Sitting here in NYC waiting for my daughters OCC game to start. Saw some posts on social media about Pearl with his birthday being yesterday. Thinking about how we used to own this city at MSG in the BET, year after year. That seems so far away. The ACCT has been nothing to me. Have we even played in the semis?

we have never won more than 1 game in the ACCT and we have been in it for 10 years. Shows the futility of the last 10 years.

We used to expect top 4 seeds in the NCAA.

Than we sneak in from time to time and make surprise runs.

Than we became bubble boy.

Of the NCAA.

Now on the outside of the ACCT bubble.

Next I predict we become the bubble boy of the "Carrier Classic Invitational".

There are 6 teams in the bottom 3rd and BC & Miami are the bottom 2 and should keep that status. Fortunately for SU both Virginia teams are really struggling as well, but we only play them once each. Same with Gtech and Cal.

Historically, 7 games will get you out of the sewer (worst 3 teams of the conference). I think we win 7-8. Maybe 9?

given JJ being back and his great play, and Cuffe/others starting to gel on the team (we still need some shooters please), I can see Cuse winning 8-9 ACC games with the other ACC teams simply not very good.

Yikes, that really depicts how down the ACC is. I don’t think we’ll have a problem making the ACC tournament.

I think we can get 8 wins in conference, which is more than I thought a couple weeks ago. Even if we only get 7, that will safely keep us out of the bottom 3 team sewer.

I don't think we can beat anyone who is much better than us so I see this...

Yeah, I think this is prob a good bet. Ideally we could steal one from Pitt, but even though they are on a slide, they haven't lost to really bad teams... I'm hoping we aren't their get right game.

But this is probably right. I am also scared IF we lose to Pitt and at Stanford that that Cal game is going to be a monster trap/people are checking out game and maybe lose. West coast, losing streak, etc.

But, you never know, let's see what happens with Pitt tomorrow and go from there.

It is what it is. I'm not accepting it but nothing I can do as a fan so I've got to root for something. I'm still thinking we have a chance to go on a run in the acc tournament and win the whole thing to get into the ncaa tourney. Now, that chance is probably only 1%, but anything is possible.

Yep. It appears that Miami and BC have the two bottom spots locked up. Who is the third team to join them? I'd guess VTech, even with them being a game ahead of NC St and Virginia. NC St is decent at home, which will give them a slight edge. I don't anything about Virginia.

Well, after tonight, we will be 4-8 tied for bottom 4th in the conference. I think we end up safely making it into the acc tournament though, with 9 conf wins (and a 16-15 record overall to avoid a losing season).

NC State is doing a lot of good (bad) work for us. They have a lot of good teams coming up on their schedule and might only get another 2 conference wins.

Expecting they will drop 1 more would leave them at 16-15 and a winning season.

Even after all the poor non-Syracuse level play this year, I think this is possible. The rest of the ACC teams are just not very good, including UNC.

Yep, and then in the acc tournament we win 4 straight to get to 21 wins overall and into the big dance. Red is then signed to a 7 year extension.
