JB's Presser after St Johns

The crowd booed the players and they never do that. The booing was related to effort and selfishness on offense after St. John's blew it open.

First time I've seen that in the Dome. Even football I've never felt the players were booed, just the coaches.

When you say that Thompson "seemed to want out" you are ascribing something to him that you have no idea about. You are guessing that's true or hoping it's true.

It's really quite slanderous. He made a mistake. He's a freshman. t was a ticky-tacky foul anyway and I was surprised they called it.

Slanderous? That's a little dramatic.

If you watched the game and saw the game go from
a 9 point game to.a 21 point game in a minute.
Then watched the lack of effort the rest of the game and won't say they quit then JB can never be wrong in your mind.
The players quit. Thompson fouled out on a play where it seemed like he wanted out. Gillon and White stopped getting back on D and the team wasn't interested in rebounding.
They QUIT. The HC is not god.

You saying JB is not god, doesn't make it so.

The team all has Kieta like hands and can't grab rebounds.

Other than that, this team reminds me of the 04? "Dream Team". Tons of talent, but they just don't mesh at all.

A long season is at hand.

The only hope is that this serves as a wakeup call to the team.

This, Gentlemen, is how you kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

You might want to consider that in your posts and in your conversations with others. And once that goose dies, there ain't going to be any bringing it back to life.

Well our goose is on life support right now.

You know, there's nothing wrong or dishonorable about just acknowledging something for what it is. It doesn't mean you're betraying JB or becoming a bad fan or something. The team quit tonight and there's something terribly wrong with the team right now, of which JB is the head coach (i.e., the CEO)

This team doesn't play well together offensively. I said it before. It's like a Summer League All Star team composed of good players but which has never played together before.

BTW, I consider the idea that the CEO is responsible for everything as being a particularly brain-dead idea.

It comes from the Military, where the theory is that the Commander is responsible for everything in spite of the fact he might have had nothing to do with a particular action.

Not everything, Townie. But when it's clear it's a systemic failure that's when it's on the HC more than anything else

Again, quite dramatic.

Dramatic?

Are you an SU football fan? Remember the 1990's?

Think that what happened to football cannot happen to SU basketball? If so, why?

What do you think recruits would say if they knew they might be booed by the Dome crowd. I have been to many, many college basketball games and I've never seen it done anywhere.

The team was bad tonight.

The fans worse.

I may be grasping at straws but that's about scheduling, not about not getting his guys prepared.

Yep, definitely grasping at straws because you said "first time I've heard him take blame" not "first time I've heard him take blame of getting his guys prepared"

I still like you though... not trying to be an a hole.

Talk about drama. A "systemic" failure"?

Recruiting? Coaching? Offense and Defensive Schemes? Assistants? Trainers? The whole system collapsing?

There's a lot of issues.

A stale offensive scheme.

A stale defensive scheme and a stubbornness to use anything else.

Poor guard play.

Generally ineffective post play.

At best, average ball handling.

Inability to score easy baskets on the break.

Poor rebounding.

Poor free throw shooting.

Recruiting misses.

That should do it.

Don't think you were and took no offense.

Don't remember him saying that last year and have no problem admitting when I'm wrong.

Don't be objective just live in an echo chamber and circle the wagons. Don't call a spade a spade.

Objective? Well, the objective things are the scores, the rebounds, the steals, etc.

The subjective things are opinion things. Like players quitting. Like players fouling out on purpose.

The fans were not worse. What the hell was there to cheer about? We were burning timeouts early in both halves because we couldn't even inbound the freaking ball. This wasn't WVU or UL we were playing. The live fans are probably tired of seeing the ineptitude of the offense for a few years now. I have seen it done. UCLA. Before they fixed up Pauley and before Alford came in. I know beacuse I watch all the Pac-12 games being a USC alum.

FB has 85 scholarship athletes per team
BB has 13 scholarship athletes per team.
NY HS FB is poor not a lot of D-1 athletes each year
NY HS BB is top 5 in the nation tons of top D-1 athletes each year.
We have a large arena and play in an elite league.
We will be fine.

Booing lack of effort is never wrong. That is on the HC. Booing happens everywhere Rupp Arena, Assembly Hall, Pauley Pavilion have all seen it in the last few years.

I'm concerned as it is, but our recruiting really has me at the point of legitimately wondering what direction this program is heading.
