Jeff Nixon interviews for Texans OC/extended by SU

This makes the basketball fiasco a little easier to swallow.
With football and lacrosse looking legit, it definitely makes basketball easier. But it also shows what SU could do with a dynamic and engaged coach.

Football was so much fun this year. I'm older and life priorities have changed, but it was so fun having that nervous excitement every game. I missed that feeling. And being there for Georgia Tech, UNLV and especially Miami were all unforgettable.

This is good news. Head coach and coordinators are consistent in 2025

2 questions remain:

1) Who becomes the starting QB? Williams? Collins? Carney? Belin?

2) Will the starting QB be good enough to contend in 2025?

No i dont think so. more worried about our d though.

I'd like to see him back for 2 or 3 years, especially with his daughter transferring in as well.
2026 & 2027 could see playoff runs... and associated coaching departures.

A different angle here. Yeah, we’re competitive with keeping him…but I imagine a big piece of this is a much larger buyout. We want coaches to be poached - it means we’re succeeding. Well, we should be getting paid for those moves which helps us backfill at a higher level, or move the money somewhere more useful.
I'm sure a larger buyout is part of the deal.

I suspect that Fran and Wildhack know that Nixon is going to leave eventually, unless the bottom unexpectedly falls out of the program. Nixon is too smart and accomplished to not have designs on a HC role someday.

But, they also want to ensure that when he leaves it's for a no-brainer promotion. What's killed SU historically is guys leaving for lateral jobs with more money. That's a brain drain that we can prevent.
