Tyler Ennis said last night he is going to recruit Lawrence

"Following his official announcement, Ennis texted me that he plans to recruit fellow 2013 recruits to SU. Atop his shopping list: Sparta (NJ) power forward Jermaine Lawrence.

Lawrence, a fellow Garden State standout with outstanding athleticism and rangy length, is arguably the top 2013 prospect from the state. He would be a natural complement to the passing-minded Ennis, completing the back end of a deadly alley-oop combination. Several people close to the situation informed Busting Brackets last month that Lawrence, at the time, was an SU lean. These same sources also revealed back in June (you can read the Ennis excerpt on the link provided in the sentence above) that Syracuse had emerged as the favorite to land Ennis as well.

Given positional conflicts—Lawrence and Jefferson are both long, athletic face-up forwards who would play one of the corners at the base of the 2-3 zone, were they to choose Syracuse—the Orange is unlikely to come away with both. But with Ennis now in tow and taking recruiting into his own hands, it’s even more unlikely that SU will come away with neither."

Still don't know why these two wouldn't compliment eachother in our zone. Usually long athletic guys fit a little better than having adown low banger at the 4.

Looks like Jefferson and Lawrence play different forward positions. What's the problem with both coming on board. If we get both, we would have a nice rotation at forward that would also include Jerami Grant.

They do Lawrence is listed as a power forward while Jefferson is a small forward.

Personally I like Jefferson at the 2 and Lawrence at the 3 but Jefferson doesn't shoot it well enough and needs to develop his right hand to make the transition to the 2. I think Jefferson isn't long enough to compete at the 3 for us.

With both TC and MG being just Sophs in 2013 ya think theres room for another 2?

I've seen Jefferson play. He can easily play the 2. Imagine this; Ennis, Jefferson, Lawrence, grant, and Coleman. With gbinje, xmas, Cooney and cj. Who the hell starts?

You need to be able to dribble with both hands to play the 2...he is the same size as gbinje and not nearly the shooter gbinje is.

Lol ok, I retract my question and ask... What do we do with all this talent? I love these types of problems.

He's a better player than gbinje. He's awesome.

Jefferson seems to be able to play 1-3. He likely wouldn't be our best player at any of those positions, but he could play any of those positions VERY well and we wouldn't miss a beat. I really hope he comes to SU.

He is different type of player but no where near the shooter of gbinje.
He's got some mid range game. Creates his own shot and drives real well. He needs to work on his range. He gets that... It's over

You have to look at in the team concept, I am never going to say a guy going to his senior year of HS won't get better but when you look at all the guys around him and the system we run it is hard to see where he fits in. He can play 1-3 but we have better individuals at 1-3. Do it all guys often hurt the team and the team concept. Plus I need to see him go right more before I get impressed...I'm harder on lefties because I am one.

So does this mean Tyler Roberson is out of the picture?

I dont disagree with you, but think about the problem SU may be facing at point guard. If MCW leaves we are thin, but if he stays the inn is full. Bringing Jefferson in may be the best way of hedging our bets. If we need a point he can fill in there. If we dont, he can play 2 other positions so there is a better chance of him getting time than a pure point who we might recruit to be a safe option.

Remember the phrase "Do it all Paul" that is what you get from jack of all trades guys. Guys who play 3 positions often don't play one... unless their name is Lebron James. The kids is a good passer that doesn't make him a PG running a team is more than that. I prefer taking Lawrence and Selden over Jefferson.

Here is his Adidas Nations team photo He is listed at 6'10" and looks every bit of it. Jermaine is standing next to Reggie Theus who is a legit 6'7.
