JB recruited me. I think the world of him. I hate to say this but he should be nurturing these guys creating positive motivation. His natural style isnt going to work this year. I hope coach looks inwardly. JB is an amazing coach. Im pulling for him.

That unequivocally proves that JB really can't recruit...

Where you a 6'5" guard who couldn't shoot or dribble the ball that had great measurables that looked like he'd probably be better suited to play WR for the football team or the track team?

There is a severe chemical imbalance with this team and it is up to the coaching staff to make it right. They need group therapy and I am serious. Industries sometimes bring in therapists to help with staffing issues. I can't imagine Boeheim doing such a thing, but it is needed.

I bet the players are not hanging out with each other, bucking each other up, etc. They want to hope, but don't know who to look to. It is up to our coach, who is a good coach with players who respond well to sharpness, but that doesn't describe this group of kids. Players don't just "quit." To me, that is a lazy analysis (although it may be an apt description). These guys have been waiting their whole lives for this moment! There is a reason this is happening; we just don't happen to know what it is.

I agree: they need to be nurtured. This is not the army. It's not boot camp. Many others may disagree. To me, this is a team who needs to learn to trust one another and trust their coach. Right now, they don't.

These guys need to have fun out there, and they need to run out of the zone. They are doing neither of those things right now. This team used to run like crazy, and we have been unable to do so ever since Tyler Ennis.

Press 10 minutes each half. Make it 15.
Obviously you must be kidding. We will play zone no matter who the opponent is. Then down 15, we will press. the zone is a passive defense at best this year. Get out of it as a game plan. Look at your opponent and devise a game plan based on their personnel, style, etc. NOT 40 minutes of horrendous zone or 38 of it and 2 minutes of press (after we are down 20).

I thought last year's team was great in transition compared to this team. This team has no clue.

Ever kid at this level should be able to make layups or dunks. We have two big guys that can't. Then they fumble the ball out of bounds. They're both usually good for this 3-5 times a game.

The whole team had butter fingers last night, routine stuff. Never seen anything like it. Maybe JB should work more layup drills and drills that involve medicine balls.

Though no coach can fix how bad half of the team is, or make them smarter. They two senior bigs are terrible and the two guards have no business playing at this level.

St Johns would be run out of the gym by any team with any modicum of talent who plays m2m.

Instead we sit back in the bs zone all game and let them do the ONLY thing they do well, which is bang threes.

The fact we could get blown out by one of the worst teams in CBB because we can't throw another look at them on defense is indefensible.

The fact our offense is so wack that we made their m2m defense look like they had 7 defenders is even more indefensible.

Roberson is having a brutal year. Kid clearly has zero confidence out there. I think DC is having a solid year. He's averaging over 6 rebounds a game in 18 minutes of play. That is phenomenal. He's also contributing over 7 pts a game. I'll gladly take those averages for someone who plays less than half the game. I agree his hands aren't what we'd like them to be, but overall, I think he's been 1 of the very few bright spots.

DC is having his best year, yes, but even so it's not great. What's maddening to me is how inconsistent he is. Dont be occasionally great be consistently good. That quote ring a bell?

He isn't a great player, as he certainly has his limitations. But he's given us solid play in less than starter's minutes, and I think he's an excellent rebounder and a physical presence. I'm content with his production. If everyone else did their job to the best of their abilities, as I believe DC is, then I think we'd be much better off.

we're not winning or losing because of DC, but this team needs him to hold onto the ball and make the bunnies when he has the opportunities.

Yup. When as offense works hard to get the ball down low, something that coach and fans have wanted all year, it would be good if the post guy actually caught the ball and/or wouldn't let it get knocked from is hand.

What's the offensive vs defensive rebound breakdown? Curious.

Dude, i hate zone, but i'm not sure what you expect us to do. If we had known in the preseason that we would get destroyed by a limping and lousy StJ team, as the culmination(?) of a horrendous run of games, maybe the staff could have worked on m2m. But, we came into the season brimming with confidence. Maybe they're working on it now? But, it seems kinda too late to switch to it in yesterday's game. We played man in a few cupcake games over the past few years, and lowly teams beat it easily.

I agree, we SHOULD be able to beat teams with man. It was comical, how an St. J scrub so easily took White out of the game yesterday, just by being assigned to him. Kind of the Belichick concept of game prep: take away the opponent's best player. Hard to do that with a zone, as the 'best player' can be anyone who is capable of standing still and catching a pass after the defense has overcommitted somewhere...

DCs numbers look great, but his defense, missed bunnies and fumbles make him so awful it negates all the good he does by a big margin.

With our propensity to miss bunnies I think UK or UCLA could play us 3 on 5 and put up a hell of a fight. Any team with great guards.
