Joe and Jesse 5th year question?

There’s zero percent chance on JE. On Joe maybe 1 percent
Believe that Jesse will be 23 years this March. There is some NBA interest in him. Even though he has the 5th “Covid” year available, his age is a factor going into the NBA. If he stays one more year until he is 24, I feel that his NBA chances will dwindle to where he will be looked He should not come back.at as a journeyman instead of a project with potential.

I don’t think there is any NBA interest.

Didn’t you hear? $75,000 tuition, room and board means he gets “nothing”.
No one says its “nothing,” it has value, but that value is clouded when other non-revenue generating athletes get the same thing. When was the last time you paid to go (or went in general) to an SU regatta?

how many people on the mens rowing team are getting scholies? women got a ton more chances there.

Gender hardly matters in this discussion. If anything it strengthens it. Women’s basketball generates some revenue, they should also be receiving greater compensation than their non-revenue generating counterparts.

not disagreeing but NBA disqualifying players off an age of 24 or 25 makes no sense...players only stay on any team for a handful of seasons these days, anyway...its not like anyone they draft is on the ten year plan

at many schools those non revenue sports actually bring in money in other ways.. I dont know about SU but I know many other schools where rowing is high on the donation bucket.. Those tend to be the places people with money are at.

I have seen many people say “coaches get rich while players get nothing” many times.

So be it for those places, they’re probably not bringing in the millions basketball and football are here at Syracuse

Well in comparison to those millions it is “nothing” but no one is walking around pretending like a full ride has no value.

You really miss the point

Teams not very good with Joe & Jesse on it this year. Doesn’t change with them on it next year.

It’s not all on the players. The HC is responsible for a lot of the trend.

JB said at the beginning of the season that he expects everybody to return, and if there are any "unexpected" departures at the end of the season, they'll be handled through the portal.

As of right now, Joe and Jesse leaving would be unexpected.
I believe he said they were all “eligible” to return. Not “expected”.

I disagree. A lot of people call it “nothing”.

He wouldn’t be playing for peanuts if he went overseas. The question though is would it be more than what his NIL money brings in.
It’s interesting….if the $ is comparable, the college tends to be more appealing to most. Better travel, fuller arenas,no language issues.

Some would love to play overseas though.

No I totally get “exit” interviews, but I believe these two players are in a different category in that being seniors you would automatically assume they are both gone in years past. They are both multiple year starters, and this is a new scenario. I would think the coaches not only would want to know their thought process/decision on whether to return, but NEED to know as soon as possible. It would affect recruiting and possible transfer portal needs.
Have to also consider who might leave if in particular Joe came back
