Joe has been a great Orangeman. Everything you want in a person donning those colors. He gave all he had on the court too and had some great games. As far as I'm concerned he can play elsewhere but this is his home. I hope he gets a pro career and hope we see him in TBT summer 2024.

I think most of us want to see a return of a faster offense with made fast break baskets and alley oops. back In late 80’s I bet we did more alley oops in one game than we have all season.

i like joe for what he is. A competitor and a good shooter. But he’s not going to run the floor. my sense is we are trying to shift roster to accommodate guys who can run

If it’s about academics, you don’t even think about it and you go Stanford. He already has the Newhouse undergrad and that is really all that matters. Get a Stanford degree and be set in just about any other field.
"He is majoring in sport management in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics." - Joe's Cuse.com bio.

Where do folks get this Newhouse stuff from?

I took the posters word for it, should still go to Stanford if it’s about academics regardless of his undergrad degree

I think Joe's legacy is tarnished because of misuse of him by Boeheim. He would have been a better player with a more suitable role.
He wasn't "misused". Boeheim wanted to get his shooting on the floor to take some D off Buddy. The 21-22 team had really come together and was on a roll until Jesse cracked his wrist at BC. That team was ready to make a serious run. I know that doesn't fit the narrative and agenda here that JB lost his chops.

17th leading scorer, 8th in assists, 22nd in steals, 3rd in three pointers made, 2nd in free throw percentage.

Wish him nothing but the best next year and in life. I think he'll have a great career in Europe for a solid decade. And then I could see him getting into coaching.

All due respect, but we have no idea what would've happened, all we know is that it didn't.
Like the saying goes: " If my aunt had balls, she'd be my uncle".

The stretch you're referring to took us from 9-11 overall to 13-11 overall. We almost certainly weren't making the tournament that year even with a totally healthy Jesse.

The bottom five ex Clemson would make sense. If he can get into Stanford he should make that move ASAP. I think a decent mid-major would be his best bet.
He will go somewhere within driving distance of home. There were 30+ Girards at every Syracuse game. Dont expect that to change

I'm sure you could see the huge leap the team made in that of the season, they would have won out IMO. Never the less,Joe has some top programs talking to him and I hope he gets the chance to play on a tournament team next year.

I wish Joe nothing but the best. He took more crap than any SU player that I can remember. Hope he finds a home where he can have a banner finish to his career. He deserves it.

Although he ended up in the Falk School, I am almost positive that he started out in Newhouse. Some majors always stand out to me. Jesse is a Biotechnology major and I think Chris is in the Maxwell School. Nice to see guys challenge themselves academically as well as athletically. A few years back there was a football player in a demanding technical major and he said he really had to push back on Dino trying to force him into an easy major.

That seems limiting, particularly for one year of college hoops.

He's too good a shooter for his own good. Got him to a level to where his height and athleticism limited him. He is far too good for the places where his height and athleticism wouldn't have limited him.

It is also tough to lay all the blame for his conditioning on the kid, I look forward to Syracuse being a little more systematic about what's expected in the weight room
I am guessing Covid and his asthma hindered him as well.

Don't know about 'God's plan', but good luck. I think you will be a valuable asset wherever you go.
Not sure why you feel the need to comment on the faith and beliefs of others. Unseemly, really.

Joe deserves respect from the fanbase on the way out. Hope he lands in a great spot.

Agree with BPO above that he would absolutely kill it at a mid-major, where he could be the focal point and his athletic limitations wouldn't be as glaring.

Kid had a fantastic year, all props to him, but I'm glad we're moving in a different direction in terms of what HCAA is looking for from backcourt players. Not a knock on Joe, just pleased that there is a transition occurring toward a more open floor style of play.

Joe opting to enter the portal is a win-win in that it helps accelerate that transition.

so in short, there are p5 teams he could start for. That was all I was saying
We'll see where he lands but imo there aren't very many P5 schools where JG would come in and start. I could see him contributing off the bench with some teams but he's a 6'1" shooting guard with limitations in terms of handle, ability to penetrate/create and just overall athleticism. He's a good not great three point shooter. Most importantly he'll struggle mightily in m2m, even more so than he did in the zone. That alone will limit his PT at most programs.

I could see him fitting in with the school like Penn State if he wants to be a featured player. If he’s OK being a super sub, elite shooter off the bench, any number of P5 schools would be fantastic for him.

The Covid interrupted team was playing pretty well, also

Not putting down Joe, but I doubt it’s about academics when he is, maybe rightfully so, still focusing on the next stage of his basketball career.
