John and Fran need to go

People were losing their minds on here about us possibly hiring Chesney, it's revisionist history to call him a "much safer bet" now.

I was very much all in on us bringing him in, I remember the pushback.
Hiring a head coach with actual head coaching experience versus a position coach who had never been a coordinator is always the safer bet, IMO. Hiring a guy who has actually done the job that you are hiring for even at a smaller school or even in business is always the safer hire, IMO. They have the experience for the exact job you are hiring for albeit at a smaller level. He had hired and fired a staff, dealt with administrators, parents etc., made difficult decisions that a head coach has to, had experience in a true leadership position. It's not always the right hire by any means but it's a safer one for sure in any business.

Fran was hired for his recruiting prowess, nothing else. The rest was a complete unknown. Chesney was always the much safer bet. Fran gambled again, by hiring a DC with zero experience when he himself a defensive position coach had no real coordinator experience.

People judge football coaches on wins and losses, they like coaches that win, want coaches fired that don't. Fran has had one great year, one horrific year. Has to get things leveled off next year. 7-5 would be just fine

I think the idea Chesney comes in last year and zero guys follow him via portal is funny

We don’t get McCord but isn’t it feasible we win 8 w a better defense?

Bob was hired by UCLA. He has won everywhere. May not be urban Meyer but on that trajectory

Wildhack is definitely a risk taker. He hired for 3 of his major sports with coaches with no experience head coaching experience in that sport. Fran for football, Red for basketball, and Gait for lacrosse. He is just following the blue print that brought him here as Wildhack had no experience in athletics administration. Wildhack was hired by a chancellor that had no experience as a chancellor. I am sensing a pattern here...

Went all in on recruiting.

In my experience,

John Wildhack has always been very responsive with any time I have reached out to him. Does he make mistakes; all humans do. Does he take risks with coaching hires; yes he does. Success, in life, often requires taking calculated risks. Some will like him for that; others will not. That’s life.

Gait was an NLL and WLAX head coach and coach of the Canadian National U20 team before moving across the hall.

He didn't exactly fall off the truck yesterday.

Shhhh, we don't use facts here to make our narratives!!

They have a qb that would have gotten them to 6-7-8 wins this year if he played all 12. Let’s see how today goes and what they do in the portal. This biggest issue with this program is still talent.

Great Point! I'm totally in for firing him now.
On Gait, when you are arguably the best player to ever play your respective sport and at your alma mater coaching the women's team for however long, that's probably a bit different!

Would agree and want to chalk up this season to inexperience. Hopefully his instincts for assistant coaches and backup QBs are better in the future. It's a bit disheartening that things fell apart this badly. All the flailing around at QB doesn't inspire confidence in the fans or the players, I would guess, so it's understandable why the coaches seem to have lost the team by the end.

I find it funny that we went "all-in" on recruiting and ended up with a non-scholarship(football) walk-on playing QB for us to end the season. LOL
They hit two home runs on Portal Qbs, they didn’t like what they inherited with Jakari, missed on Collins, and were forced to throw two very not ready 3 star true freshman onto the field.

The only definitive miss is Collins.

It seems to be gospel that Angeli was a home run. At this point I'd say he was a solid double with potential.

agreed, people are getting a bit carried away. He was coming on, starting to play well after a bit of slow start. Clearly, he was by far our best option but people are beginning to crown him because of how poorly his replacements were.

He was a great fit for Nixon's preferred offense which we learned was his only offense

He was a great fit for the offense equals home run.

That's another reason to find someone other then Nixon, all the freshman QB signed when Fran got here. And if you are the OC and you have a set offense to run, its your job to bring in players to run your offense.

I said a week ago, Fran will win the off season, he typically does. He needs to win minimum of 7 games next year
Or what? If he wins 6 games you are saying he gets fired? No way
