John Gruden and Greg Olsen Didn't Like Fran Brown's Antics

And there's a difference between how fans should approach the result of a game and the team. Fans should take some measure of satisfaction with a win. The players should take satisfaction with high effort and execution.
110% correct!

Jon Gruden is a career .500 coach that lucked into a Super Bowl joining a team with an elite defense and 4 hall of famers. Greg Olson has never done anything of note ever except be a league average TE.

Maybe if they held themselves accountable after poor performances they would have done better.
I mean…I don’t care how you or anyone views the postgame stuff, but Olsen very clearly wasn’t just an average tight end.

My favorite part about this whole thing is that it paints us as in a different tier than UConn. We're a real team, and they are a scrub. Real teams are supposed to demolish scrubs. Regardless of how good and well coached UConn really is this year, this reinforces that perception and I'm here for it

Fran is definitely not afraid to take risks and coach it his way. Everything about his hire was unconventional and he is trying different approaches. Some will stick and some will not but I respect how he is looking at things through a different scope. Fran is also willing to take criticism and apply it. I saw him mention how Wildhack and associate AD Herm gave him some things to try to improve his sideline demeanor. He applied them. Today I think you have to be willing to have a growth mindset to be successful. I will give Syracuse a lot of credit for willingness to give him rope to do it how he wants to do it. We have tried other conventional or flavor of the month (orange is the new fast) approaches to it and fell flat. We have a coach who really wants to be here and improve in every aspect of the job. I hope he finds success. I have been critical of Wildhack in the past but the more I see how he gives his people the freedom to do their jobs in the way they see fit and also step in when needed goes a long way with me.

Sorry but an ACC Network Extra game against UConn is not a "national stage"
I guess, man. Instead of being a forgettable win that fades quickly, every talking head on social media is talking about how Syracuse sucks, and if we’re all being honest with each other, this looks like a 4-5 win team. This going to feed into that narrative that we can’t be fixed.

If you are going to pay this kids like professionals than you should treat them like professionals. No one is saying don’t hold them accountable, but there is a reason that this would never be done in the pros

If they want to be treated like pros, they need to act like pros. Sleepwalk through a game and expect consequences.

Oh look, a new person to put on ignore.

I guarantee you not a single talking head is talking about Syracuse beyond sunday lol You're right they probably aren't very good this year, but its kind of insane to think that counts as newsworthy on national stage.

As for treating them like professionals, they are being treated like pros. Thats what happens youre a pro and you play like crap, you sprint.

Exactly.

And of the, I don’t know 80 on the roster…16 might get a camp invite, 10 might play in a preseason game and 5 might make an NFL roster.

These are not pros, they need to not act like the work is done and actually work.

That’s what Fran did.

Accountability beyond the football field is part of the message. I had mixed emotions about the wind sprints until I heard FB talk about the reasons why he did it. He walks the talk.

And have what a combined 50 years of playing and coaching at the highest level. Don't act as if they don't know what they are talking about or as if their opinions aren't based on experience. Not saying I see it as gospel, they were asked to comment and they did. Not a huge deal and from the look on Gruden's face, I think he's a bit conflicted here as well

Spot on! Just as you were on how difficult the UConn game was going to be for this particular SU team and coach, even with all the shade thrown your way by the usual suspects last week.

Gotta love the "whataboutism" childish type retorts that's so persistently/consistently alive and well to boot in our immensely confrontational culture.

This place is really defensive.

Olsen was a really good TE, and he might be an even better commentator.

He had a take on this, don't really agree with him, but that's his job. Get over it. Be happy he's talking about Syracuse at all.

Another spot on post! IMO.
