And still he had 45 receptions and 550 yards without a QB who could throw a forward passed for 7.5 games. I’m sure he could have learned the playbook better over time.

Is there anyone else besides Angeli that would even earn a reaction? At this point outside of maybe Samuels, the roster is either totally unproven, or garbage.

There are others but most of the guys we’ve wanted to keep we have.

The key OL like Mack and Cruz. Some of the other freshman that redshirt on the line. Young DTs from Canada. Angeli, Samuels, Boobie, Antoine, Peal. There’s a decent list. Granted some are unproven. Angeli is just the most important piece to me.

Gill is a loss. I liked Ross and Hornsby but we have a lot of youth that sat at WR this year too.

I wasn’t upset about Willis. We can improve there. For every list where Gill is ranked highly, Willis is nowhere to be found.

I just think there is some immaturity in players assuming a new location will necessarily be better. But with more $$&, hard to criticize a move. Seems like the opposite can happen with coaches… we can get Portal Player X for some percentage $$$ of current Player Y. Maybe sometimes it is better to stick with what you know. Don’t let perfect be the enemy of good.

I think at this point it’s proven, but 18-20 year old kids are going to do what 18-20 year old kids do, especially with the lack of sound advisement.

Agree. I would have liked to have seen his potential in a second year. He’s talented. However drama seems to follow him everywhere.

Again, i like all those guys, especially the 2 Canadians, but they’re all young and mostly unproven. I was hoping to add to either Cook or Gill, instead all need to be replaced. I just think 2024 was a perfect recipe for how to succeed. Keep the nucleus of the established players and add a few key portal pieces. It’s tough to even compare, but watching these playoff teams they all have one thing, upperclassmen with highly productive returning players.

I’ll wait to see who we add in the portal, but its
going to have to be a big haul.

Setting healthy boundaries can be really difficult. I had thought DART and the distance from his “entourage” was exactly what the kid needed. Maybe it still is, be the kid has to see it that way too.

I know what you’re talking about but these are 18-21 year olds. It happens everywhere. The last 8 games were extremely frustrating. I can’t imagine what the kids that put their entire time into this must have felt. Add in the stress to make it to the league, or earn NIL $ through play. I’m sure weren’t in a good psychological space.

Maybe no trust in the OC who never made adjustments to get his players the ball for 8 straight games. And the guy who played sparingly was 5-7 in passing but your OC decided to go with 2 guys who were at about 40% in crunch time and had more interceptions than TD passes.

Syracuse a team with limited funds, needs to spend the money on the correct positions...

QB - OL - DL are first priorities. The skilled position players should be next, but without a high-level QB and solid lines on both sides of the ball, Syracuse will never be a consistent winner.

Take all the money for these skilled position players and spend it on the positions that matter for a school in our position.

Spend on a couple of skilled position players but the majority of our funds should be spent on positions that matter for us in the long run.

To me it's not the loss of Cook in isolation that is the concern. It's the overall net loss of talent from the WR room that is the problem. Let's see who additionally we bring in. Fran is well aware of the current puts and takes. Gotta believe he realizes he needs to add back into the WR room via portal. Let's see what overall team composition is going into Spring.

Steve must have developed a relationship with some of the guys who are leaving.

Deslaurier. He is a stud. Truly Angeli, Samuels and Deslsurier are can't lose guys. It's also rough because we're only seeing the losses, tomorrow we can finally see some gains.
