We've had nice things (Cook, Gill). Now we're going to have newly minted Freshman WR starters cast in Fran's image. They will do well or better than the portaled WRs.
How do I know this?
I don't, but I'm sure it will happen.
Fran wasted a year of his eligibility let’s be real. We couldn’t even get him the ballDisloyal. Fran gave him the chance to turn around his career.
Maybe Rickie has no where to go and knows it?this one hurts we’re basically getting a whole new offensive team, outside of maybe 2-3 o linemen and qb. I still find I weird the person who caught the most flack (Rickie) might stay but everyone else is gonna leave?
Fran bails this kid out of purgatory where no other coach would go near him, and then once he has a decent season, he bounces. Just shows what kind of person he truly is
Maybe true but any serious program if this season happened would clear out most of the roster that they didn’t see in future plans. I think Fran loyalty to an extent is still to much. I also want good people and then good players but I think some of these guys know they also have more strict rules here then at other schools, wonder if some of them aren’t as invested in that plan.Maybe Rickie has no where to go and knows it?
He took other P4 visits in the spring portal window, Fran no doubt took a chance on him but it’s not like other schools weren’t willing to do the same. Maybe if he caught more he would have better stats, two way streetFran wasted a year of his eligibility let’s be real. We couldn’t even get him the ball
He could, or he may never see the field.Thats the thing with unproven players vs proven upperclassmen. Can’t win with freshman and sophomores. Not a chance .Amare Gough has similar traits to Cook.
You mean the year he put up by far the best stats of his career?Fran wasted a year of his eligibility let’s be real. We couldn’t even get him the ball
I really think the idea you owe people a debt for giving you a chance is an outdated concept. In theory it’s just and makes sense in a perfect world. However, that’s not the nature of college football with NIL and the transfer portal. How many people keep the same job for long these days? We’re all given chances in life, but you must take the better opportunity if you think one exists. He took other P4 visits in the spring portal window, Fran no doubt took a chance on him but it’s not like other schools weren’t willing to do the same. We just had the best recruiting year that we have had in over 30 years. Now, I get that your point is that the shine will wear off with those kids but that is the business we have chosen. We will get real good kids in the portal. Good kids leave other schools as well. And if you think that there is some guru out there that it doesn't happen to, good luck with that. This is how many schools for Cook? Oh, and of the kids that hurt us to lose, a couple of them, only kids that hurts to lose, were told to leave.Again, I said it about Gill, this is how the shine wears off really quick on Fran. The point of hiring coaches like him is that they supposedly retain this kind of talent. "We have the JUCO transfer and Russell!" Russell, ok I understand that, he's a 5 star, but he's still a frosh, the JUCO transfer I don't think ever saw a single snap in 2 years at Boise State.
Try 3.Gotta bring in at least one WR with proven FBS level production.
We need a portal class like Fran had his first year and then some need 2 WRs need a new OL also new DL 3 safeties, and 2 QBs and last 2 RBs.Let’s just be honest. Our only position of strength outside of CB has been totally decimated. Sure there is potential of hope, but we have no idea how the incoming guys will perform and almost certainly won’t match that of guys who have proven themselves. We knew we would be losing some, but not the entire lot. Would have been fine if they kept Cook or Gill, and maybe Ross or Hornsby, but this is just another example of how it’s impossible to depend on player development and how hard it will be to win at a consistent level (Not like they’ve been doing that, but will only get harder).
