Excellent OL coach. Worked for Andy Reid in Philadelphia for years. Had a lot of success.
Heck of a pick-up for Coach Brown.
He had 5 different guys gain 1,000 yards in his time with the Eagles - Ricky Watters (3x), Duce Staley (3x), Brian Westbrook (2x) and LeSean McCoy (2x). That's a pretty good sign.
Plus, 7 of those 10 1,000 yard rushers were when McNabb was the QB.
If my eyes don’t deceive me at least 15% of those passes turned into runs lolYeah. I believe I saw a stat once that at times during the McNabb years their run/pass ratio was 35:65. Reid wouldn't have an oline coach that couldn't pass block.
3 yards per carry in a million snapsLaQuint got 1,000. I'd take that as "good enough" in a minute.
Made it easier to remember the nice runs because there were so few nice holes.Yes
3 yards per carry in a million snaps
Watters was before Castillo and only one of McCoy's 1K years was with Castillo. McCoy's rookie year was 09, he got 1K in 2010.
But they were very pass-heavy during Reid's tenure, and often had a shared load in the backfield.
They also had the best screen game in the league that whole time.

Allen was a great clutch guy, the UNLV game alone shows what a great player he was. Great blocker and pass catcher too. I will take an LQA every single year on this team4.5 ypc with 14 rushing TDs as a senior.
He also got 1,000 yards as a junior, with a similar average.
What's wrong with you?
LaQuint Allen was terrific for us.
Lequint was a much different level from anything we had last year. His yards after contact was outstandingLaQuint got 1,000. I'd take that as "good enough" in a minute.
Agreed, and Willis might be the most over rated RB prospect I've seen in years. If he doesn't learn to lower his pads he'll be in concussion protocol the rest of his career. I really like what Hill showed when he had a chance. He might end up being a major contributor next season, especially if he can catch the ball out of the backfield.Lequint was a much different level from anything we had last year. His yards after contact was outstanding
I'm not questioning that at all. I think he was a very dependable runner. Certainly, an excellent complementary piece to McCord's passing attack. Tough as nails. But he didn't have great vision, shiftiness, or acceleration. As a fan I was always left wanting those intangibles and underappreciated everything else he brought to the table.Lequint was a much different level from anything we had last year. He was just an offensive assistant in 95 and 96 and a TE coach in 97, he switched to OL in 98.Castillo was there from 1995 to 2012.
That includes 3 years of Watters gaining 1,000 yards.
McCoy gained 1000 in 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014.
One of my favorites of all time Like WowAllen was a great clutch guy, the UNLV game alone shows what a great player he was. Great blocker and pass catcher too. I will take an LQA every single year on this team
Nixon overlapped 3 years with Castillo when they were both at the Eagles under Andy ReidMakes me wonder if McNabb floated his name at any point
2009:Nixon overlapped 3 years with Castillo when they were both at the Eagles under Andy Reid
Castillo was OL and Nixon was offense /RB coach so they had direct interaction I would assume
I have no clue how to judge OL coaches, let alone if the hiring of one is a good move.
If he can drag the carcass of this OL from hideous to mildly OK it’ll be a huge win.
I'll disagree there. He had good vision, great shiftiness which is why he could roll off would be tackles and good enough acceleration. What he did lack was top end speed but he's our best 10 yard RB since DC3 was on the hill.I'm not questioning that at all. I think he was a very dependable runner. Certainly, an excellent complementary piece to McCord's passing attack. Tough as nails. But he didn't have great vision, shiftiness, or acceleration. He was OL coach from 98-2010, then DC in 2011 and 2012.
I think Lequint's literal presence gave us three wins last yearI'm not questioning that at all. I think he was a very dependable runner. Not announced yet, but he’s recruiting…
